Hmm, while I had been fan of gaming (Mortal Kombat/Tekken mostly but other titles as well) the first game I consider got me into it was Delta Force and Blood 2. Delta Force was the first game I watches somebody play in LAN and also the first with really detailed and awesome graphics I had never before seen[footnote]Yes, I know I laugh at it now. I've laughed at it before, too[/footnote] and Blood 2: The Chosen was the first game I played[footnote]as I said, there were others before but I only used them as toys not viewed them as part of "gaming". For example Solitaire doesn't count as "gaming" to me.[/footnote] on a PC. And Quake 3 was the first game I played over LAN with a friend of mine.

Well, that is really about PC gaming, if I have to be correct Super Mario Bros was the first real video game I played back when I was...I don't know but very young. Probably 5-6 years old.
Oh trust me, it happens to the best of us. When I first put in MGS3, I thought to myself, 'It doesn't get much better than that'

I dont think a single game got me into gaming. I kind of grew up with it. I was born in '85 and have a brother that is 10 years older than me. By the time I was old enough to understand how to work a controller there was already a NES in my home with Super Mario/Duck Hunt, Ninja Gaiden plus whatever other games my brother would swap with his friends. Back then I didn't know what was considered a good or a bad game, I just played whatever was in front of me and if it sucked I just assumed there was something I was missing and not the games fault

I think gaming is what got me into building stuff or being handy in connecting things together to make it work. My brother would make me hook up the NES all the time since my hands were smaller and could move behind the TV easier....then I just got really good at it.

My nephews at least have Kirby, Mario bros Wii and little big planet; not too different from the games that got me into gaming

My family owned a Tandy TV Scoreboard which had 4 Pong-like games. We played that until it wouldn't play anymore.
Then it was the Magnavox Odyssey2 and "Quest for the Rings" for my first cartridge-based time thief.
My first computer game was Radar Rat Race for my Commodore VIC 20.
The game that really hooked me was "The Bard's Tale" for my Commodore 64. I played that all of the time until a piece of sand made its way into the 5 1/4" disk and scored a groove.

Long, long time ago our school had a computer (a miracle if you ask me, given the climate back then) and the first game that I wanted to play all the time was the first Commander Keen. Oh those yellow slimes and the tar. Jumping eggs (I thought they were eggs :D).

Once we had a computer at home, it was without a question Duke Nukem. The first one, not 3D, but the first "platformy" one with Dr. Proton. I got myself to the point where I could tell exactly what was in each box in each level (molecules or dynamite, you name it :) ). Good times.
Oh yeah and Test Drive 2 :).

Jesus... Alex Kidd on the Master System. Played it round a family friends house. I was probably around 5 or 6 & was hooked instantly.

Our first gaming system was a ZX Spectrum Sinclair though. Played many a game on that none of which I remember the names of other than a fighting game called Yi Ar Kung-fu.

Galaga is the first game I played regularly and got good at.

I also had a few PS1 titles that got me into gaming, can't remember any specifics besides Gran Turismo 2

What got me into gaming? My babysitter used to play D&D and once told me I'd make a great game master. So bought the Red Box basic set when it came out in 1983 and began playing/GMing. I've been gaming since then. I subsequently discovered other RPGs that I preferred over D&D like Paranoia 1e, Call of Cthulhu, and GURPS.

Oh...you probably mean computer gaming. I suppose what got me into computer gaming would be a combination of Pong and Asteroids.

Yeah...I'm old.

Dungeon Master on the Atari was the one that got me into gaming. I used to play it around my friend's house once a week after doing piano lessons when I was a kid. There were a couple of other old school favourites that cemented my love of gaming though including Ultima IV, Ishtar, Alternate Reality - The City, and The Secret of Monkey Island.

Believe it or not, Half Life 2 got me into serious gaming. I was a late bloomer.

I grew up with a SNES so I shared my childhood with Mario Kart, Super Mario World, TMNT Turtles in Time, Rock n Roll Racing, Megaman X, Mortal Kombat, Starwing etc. But more serious gaming was around with Age of Empires, spent loads of time on that game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old republic.

God. I fucking love that game so god damn much.

Next was Knights of the old republic 2, and for some reason and some how, I loved it even more.

Winter Olympics on the Atari was what got me into gaming. nothing like a stick figure getting to the bottom of the stick slalom to be eaten by a snow monster.
