I have to agree with you there. It's probably not my favourite (Okami may clinch it), but it staggered me the most when I was greeted by that, when starting what I thought would be a game with catchy, repetitive tunes.

WOW. It might just be because I'm listening to it at high volume through enormous headphones in the dark, but this actually gave me chills. Thanks for sharing mate, this is actually epic, I need to download this soundtrack and play this game right away

Kingdom Hearts, Definately, the music is really atmospheric and very well put together, regardless if you like the games or not, you have to love the music.

Final Fantasy IX, all the music fits the locations beautifully and truly immerses you n the world. Same to be said for Chrono Cross. FFVII had another very befitting soundtrack.

Lost Odyssey in my opinion. BTW, those aren't actually spoilers, just using them to keep things neat and tidy.

Mirror's Edge definitely features one of the most evocative soundtracks I encountered so far.

I count Silent Hill 3 as both Yamaoka's and Team Silent's greatest achievement. And it is hauntingly gorgeous music.


Finally, since I want to keep this a short list for once, Jack Wall's work on Jade Empire was very much a western approach to oriental period tunes, yet with a delicate respect for the fundamentals which I love.
