Ya, looks kinda like Geometry Wars.

It does look like it but it isn't - it's an indy game it was very highly spoken of at one point, came out around the same time as Braid and they were touted together as the "future of indy games" in the press.

Hmm I think you're right, that is it . . . I must have mixed it with another game in my head cuz I was sure it was one of those bedroom-programmer type of games. Regardless thanks to everyone, I would have never found that on my own lol
