Buying Fallout Las Vegas as soon as possible :D Loved Fallout 3.
It should be much better, its being made by Obsidian who contain many of the creators of the original fallout games (though I don't know if it has the guys who split off into Troika, who where the core guys I think).
Tim Cain, Lead Design on FO1 and founder of Troika, is off at Carbine working on some MMO project.

Chris Avellone, Lead Design on FO2, is the Chief Creative Officer at Obsidian and is one of the design team for FONV.

Josh (J.E.) Sawyer, Lead Design for Van Buren before it's untimely demise, is Lead Design on FONV.

I will just recommend my top and favorite game of all time, which is an indie PC exclusive released in 2009. it's quite underrated, but it's the best I have played EVER! It's called:

Morrowind, Thief 1 or 2, Deus Ex.

Why? All 3 series I found challenged me to leave my preconceptions on how to play the game at the door and figure out a new playing style different than the one I started with. Once I did that, they far exceeded my expectations for any game. As it is now, Morrowind is still my favorite game ever. It took me until just a month or so ago to figure out how to play Deus Ex, and I'm yet to play a game that handles stealth better than the first Thief games; that is once I figured out that the game played better when you didn't try to sword-fight everyone you encountered.

You won't find games that challenge you like these on a console. Consoles LOVE to be accessible to all, and while that is a good thing, it also makes gems like these stand out more.

Oh, and seconding Planescape: Torment. It's basically a novel in the form of a game, so expect a lot of reading. If that doesn't bother you in the slightest, you will have an amazing time diving into the story, environment and characters.

If you're gonna be a PC gamer, Steam and a good Internet connection aren't optional---they're absolutely fucking mandatory. You'll get hideously dicked around on PC games by retailers since PC retail's been dead as a dog in a Korean restaurant kitchen for years. PC gaming lives on Steam...and it often does so dirt cheap.

To be fair, by "PC retail" you mean "brick & mortar shops". There's still a hell of a selection of PC games on the likes of Amazon and Play. But yeah, do familerise yourself with digital distributers, such as GOG, Gamersgate, Impulse, Direct-2-Drive and of course Steam, as that's probably where most PC games are sold these days.

Alien Swarm Source: if you haven't got it yet,it's free too.

Star Craft 2: Even if you're not a fan of RTS. This game is forgiving for new comer.

Oblivion and Fallout 3: because of the ridiculous amount of good mods both games have, a must have even if you're already beaten both game more than once on consoles.

Deus Ex: one of the best cyberpunk adventure on any gaming platform.

Civilization 3,4 or the upcoming 5: Small learning curve for a game this complex, very addictive too, you'll find yourself muttering "one more turn...." every time you play.
*Steam has a very good deal for Civ3 go check it out!

System shock 2: you probably already know what System Shock 2 is,if you are not sure whether or not you should get it,You definitely should get it because it IS the best cyberpunk adventure on any gaming platform.
*Make sure you set the game's processor Affinity to only 1 CPU when you play it.

psychonauts you have to buy it you just have to friggin buy it
and the second most awesome game on pc is advent rising you have to buy this too it's rare to find it in stores but it's so goddman awesome (by the way advent rising is a sci-fi 3rd person shooter) now with the left 4 dead 2 you have to buy the first one because it's even more awesome
the best rpg's are dungeon siege 1 and 2
mass effect 1 is good only there's more talking and diplomacy then fast paced shooting action and i think that's kinda good for taking a turn from the generic crowd of fps to the crowd of original shooters like metal slug series(it's a pity it's not on pc though i played the first,2,3,x,4,5) half life 2 and episodes

Well, KF is a good game if you have some friends to play with. Garry's Mod is also fairly fun, but requires Half Life 2. Or you could just get Half Life 1 or Deus Ex.

Also welcome to the escapist! Ignore that sound coming from under the staircase, and don't go in the basement!
I have never, ever seen Killing Floor referred to as KF, been searching for a bit now and now it seems obvious but god. =/

I have just Left 4 Dead 2, and was hoping to expand my game collection, dont mention TF2, Im already getting it.
Any genre will do, I prefer shooter/sci-fi/fantasy, stuff like that.
If you post a game I used to have for my old xbox 360 I dont want to get it as I want new games and experiences.
Not MW2 I used to have for pc and it broke.
Thanks, and im new :D
Batman Arkham Asylum if you
A. Haven't played it already.
B. Love Batman.
C. Or maybe even just a like.
D. Its not actually another point, it just
E. Adds some words to this otherwise dull list-off.

Or Mount and Blade Warband if you don't mind singleplayer (there's some multiplayed too, but without most the 'cool' of Warband) games. Its really quite good.

Also there is a mod to improve some of the graphics e.g. character models, thats pretty essential. Its called rebirth or something like that.
