What games this year are worth getting?

There's a 50% deal of all games at my blockbuster so I went in to browse and I was seriously disappointed by the lack of anything interesting. Granted I couldn't see Arkham City there but even so I'm not sure if thats worth getting since I heard its more or less the same as the first one. So what games are really worth buying that came out this year?

Just this year?

Eh, 2012 has been a decidedly average year for games. The only standouts for me were ME3 (and please let's not have that conversation again) and Journey (which is a PSN exclusive).

Hopefully some of the late-year stuff coming up will be good. Looking forward to Dishonored and XCOM Enemy Unknown.

(Also, unless you really hated the first game, I would recommend Arkham City. I was mildly determined to hate it (not a Batman fan) but still ended up having a good time.)

ME3 (only if you played and liked the other two)
Darksiders II (again, only if you played and liked the first, but it's a definite recommendation if you did)
Torchlight II (absolutely phenomenal, regardless of whether or not you played the first.)

That's my personal list for 2012... Honestly it's been kind of a "meh" year for me.

Binary Domain is worth checking out. I rented it with no expectations at all, it was a fun game and in the end i bought it.
Another underrated game worth checking out is Dragon`s Dogma.

The current game i play is Borderlands 2 and if you got at least one person you can play it with go get it.

Spec Ops: The Line. Please buy it. It's really good, but it's underselling.
Also Max Payne, Arkham City, and Mass Effect. Or wait eight days and see if they have Xcom.

Assassin's Creed 3, just because of how awesome the concept is and how well the series has been doing. I wonder if Conner will be as awesome as Ezio or if he'll be a combination of both Altair's serious mood and Ezio's charasmatic charm.

Fun fact: Mass Effect 3 is only $16 at gamestop. Guess the ending fallout was pretty bad... it's the same price as ME2.

I'm on a budget, so I haven't gotten any new games in quite a while, but I've heard lots of good things about Borderlands 2...

The only games this year that I'd really recommend so far are Mass Effect 3 and Borderlands 2.

Everything else new this year that I played has either been pretty average at best or fairly disappointing. Thankfully there's been nothing (yet) that I completely regret spending money on.

Spec Ops: The Line is a game you have to play, even if only to say that you have.

Dishonored is also looking good and it's a new IP.

Torchlight 2 doesn't require a high end PC to run and is pretty fun to boot.

Tales of Graces f and Borderlands 2 are the only ones I'd wholeheartedly recommend. Nothing has been really transcendent that I've played, so I dunno. Play some catch up maybe?
