I don't mean achievements in the sense of "you just did X! You got 10 gamerscore for doing it!", I mean achievement in the literal sense: doing something that requires time and effort to accomplish. Something like winning a Team Slayer in Halo where your three team mates are afk or retarded, or doing a raid without dying once, or winning a ladder match without losing a single unit.

Obviously you can talk about actual achievements (some of them are legitimately hard), but I would rather hear about things that you have seen (or want to see) that impress you.

Please include the game name and any relevant information that determines it's impressive-ness (like beating Mimiron pre-nerf for example)

I'll go first:
Watching a live stream of Red Bull LAN, and this player LiquidRet (I don't know him that well) just killed a scouting Zealot with 6 lings, and didn't lose a single ling... That is pretty win considering a zealot will kill a ling in 3 hits, while it takes a while for even 6 lings to kill a Zealot.

In a stand up battle (the players don't do any micro) the Zealot would kill 2-3 lings before dying.

Best the game in/with:

Less than 5 hours
Hardest mode
No kills
No alerts
No healing items
no special items
...seriously? How in the HELL could someone do that?

As for impressive achievements....let's take a looksy at my profile and see....I have a lot of achievements but nothing particularly impressive.

The Left 4 Dead achievement of "Survive all campaigns on expert" mode would be pretty damn impressive (unless of course you're a cheating bastard...)

I beat the Realism mode with a friend of mine and a couple of his friends, and omg... Realism is fucking insane, EVERY shot has to be BANG on, you can't ever miss and you can't ever fuck up.
We died again and again and again and again... ._.
After we beat the last campaign, I was "omg... I never want to play this game again..."

Achievement unlocked for 75G
Keep your team alive through the suicide mission
This is the achievement I worked hard for recently (I own an Xbox 360). Despite if the internet holds answers as to how you can obtain this step by step, there's still risks and chances a team mate can die thus you have to do more then just be nice or strict with someone in order for them to respect you throughout the end.

Love it, shows how far I went to save everyone. Also shows how much i've bonded with these characters that share the Normandy with me, that they're worth doing favors for even if it's a pain in the butt. Otherwise I wouldn't of bothered trying to get this achievement and besides.. I didn't know there was an achievement for caring about your companions lol.
I managed to get that achievement by accident on my first playthrough. I guess the fact that I will jump on any sidequest helped, as every crew member was loyal by the time of the suicide mission, and I was ready to jump through the Omega-4 relay as soon as the call came, but still - I must have gotten lucky, seeing as I didn't have any guides, and I've heard of other people having crew members randomly die on them even when loyal and in the 'right' place. Well done on achieving it as well!

Wait a minute, aren't the cutscenes alone more than six hours long in total? Does it make you skip those, or do they just not count?

It's pretty hardcore, you can't even just pause the game because that counts too. You have to open the PS menu

Being able to sit through 50 hours of Viva Pinata while actually playing.
JK. I've been playing that game recently. Picking up for $10 and I've always been curious about it.

I actually almost got that on my first play through just using vague tips that my friends and reviewers gave me. I only lost Thane, because I made a stupid mistake.

Pulling off an insane comeback in UMVC with Phoenix Wright. Most recently PW vs Doom and Wesker. It's canon baby!

Somehow a decent Doom combo ending with Sphere Flame, X-Factor cancel, Sphere Flame into Maximum Wesker didn't finish an under half health PW (he fucked up his inputs between the second Sphere Flame and I X-Factor'd to ride out the chip)

In the words of Doom himself, "Dropping your X-Factor combo?! Oh you're gonna regret that!"

One basic combo later Wesker is completely destroyed (level 3 X-Factor Break the Witness does damage) and I just Lvl 3'd Doom when he threw out the finga laserz on incoming.

Do the words "zero frame, omnidirectional Hyper" mean anything to you Doom? It means "touch a button. I dare you."

I just saw a Terran player win an SC2 game against a Zerg player that had map control, many more units, much stronger units, and was destroying everything in sight... But the Terran player won because he destroyed the last structure the Zerg player had xD

Even the commentators were "wait... WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!"

When I played World of Warcraft I was one of five people on my realm to have complete the bloodsail grind pre-patch 3.0, I also kidnapped the High Priestess of the Aldor and brought her to Netherstorm for the day. I miss WoW, but the game changed so much with Wrath, didn't feel like playing after it launched.
I had a guy in my guild that raided with us during the early phases of Ulduar, that was one of the first people to get The Insane title. He was one of those guys that played wayyyyy too much. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to raid with us because he had massive lag issues all the time. Really chill guy though.

Lol, I am the same in regards to WoW, but I started playing in the last few months of BC and Wrath was my hayday. ICC and especially Cata were what really killed my enjoyment of WoW. Wings of Liberty also contributed quite a bit too.

Halo Reach: A Monument to All Your Sins

Damn, this one took me a lot of heartache and time. Out of all my friends I am proud to say I'm the only idiot who wasted his time.

I have that :D
After getting it, I played Halo CE on legendary for shits and giggles. That achievement was one of the more frustrating Halo achievements, especially on the parts where you'd have to kill a bunch of elites and your DMR ran out... Ugh...

Yeah, and the copious amounts of Assault Rifles that do next to nothing in whittling down enemy shields.

"Ok, what weapons do I have... An assault rifle with a lot of ammo, and a grenade launcher, sweet! ...with 3 shots in it..."
Assault Rifle is only good in normal really. Heroic/Legendary, all it does is tickle the shields of Elites. Hell, it takes half a clip to kill grunts even >.>

I completed Final Fantasy X 100%, which I chose to do for fun and not for bragging rights. Dodging lightning bolts is one of the more tedious, gaming, related activities I've ever engaged in though.

No damage runs. If you manage to take no damage at all for an entire game, you will earn my respect as a gamer pretty quickly. Goes double if you play on the highest possible difficulty. There aren't many games where it can be done (mostly action games that aren't 3D shooters) but it's impressive regardless of the game or genre.

Honestly, I think I got that one on the first run-through by accident. I honestly loved just about every character (barring perhaps Zaeed due to being just 'press A to head a couple lines over and over' and generally being a dick, but even he redeemed himself in 3 to me) and did what I could to make sure they lived. But I was sad because
I love my crew due to not realizing I had to leave as soon as that'd happened. I likely would have lost someone if I had. It was sad... I really liked the crew. Even just hearing random crewmen talking made me happy and care about what they were going through. I still remember one talking about how his family was on a planet that was harvested, worrying about his family... then feeling relieved when they got out in time.

But it was weird... I did pretty much the same thing the second time and I did lose someone. I think it was due to the characters I chose to go with me and a few other aspects. The day I ordered ME3, I actually started a new playthrough of ME2. Why? Because I wanted to save everyone. I still remembered the story and could have just done the DLC. But I wanted everyone to be there... to see what impact they had in 3. And I'll be honest, it was worth it. 100%, without a doubt, worth it.

OT: I was happy with the 'save one bullet' achievement. On my first runthrough of Half-Life 2: Episode 1, I beat the game only firing a single bullet. Also proud of the fact I got every achievement in Halo 3 before the DLC was released. Some of those, like get 3 kills in a row on lone wolves, were incredibly hard. And I didn't achievement farm for them. But then the game made it much easier to get them by upping the number of people in LW (I think it was 5-6 when I got the achievement) and increased the number of playlist maps with swords (there was only one I believe when I did it, the one with the top level where the platform goes out to the sword).

Beating Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die mode without dying.

Said that one before but it's the only time i've ever physically got up and danced around my living room whle my wife and kids looked at me with a sense of sadness and pity in their eyes.
