So I'm saving up my money for a new guitar, something around $300.
I think I have it narrowed down to three guitars, but dont know which one to pick.

So I cant decide between a Used Epiphone Flying V, a Dean Dave Mustaine V VMNTX Signature, or a Jackson JS30RR Rhoads. It has to sound good through my VOX AD50VT

And now pros and cons:

Used Epiphone 1967 re issue Flying V:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-1967-Flying-V?sku=518098

Pros
I can get without waiting to ship (Found at local store)
Discontinued (therefore hard to find, and awesome)
Great Reviews

Cons:

Used (Possible scratches, dents, internal problems, although I saw very few scratches)

Dean Dave Mustaine V VMNTX Signature
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/...-V-VMNTX-Signature-Electric-Guitar?sku=515169

Pros:

Good reviews
I like the Megadeth sound
Guaranteed new

Cons

Wait for shipping
Stock pickups seem dull

Jackson JS30RR Rhoads JS Series Guitar
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Jackson-JS30RR-Rhoads-JS-Electric-Guitar?sku=511564

Pros
Great Reviews
Garunteed New
Pickups seem awesome.

Cons
Wait for shipping
Akward seeming body shape

TLDR:
Need a new guitar around $300, Between a Used Epiphone Flying V, Dean Dean Dave Mustaine V VMNTX, and a Jackson JS30RR Rhoads. Links above. It has to sound good through my VOX AD50VT. Will be playing metal, punk, and alt rock.

Help please.

I'd probably go for the Epiphone of the Jackson. The Dean loses because it's a Dean, and I wouldn't be a Dean of it was the last guitar on this earth (unless it's a fluffy Dean Z, those things rock).

However, when deciding on buying a guitar, especially if you want to spend a shitload of cash into it, don't just buy it! Read reviews, find out what kind of sound it has, but most importantly: play the damn instrument! I have seen a lot of people whining because their guitar had a lousy fretjob, or the neck was not that smooth or whatever.

All of those issues could've been taken care of, or rather avoided, by playing the instrument. By doing so, you will notice if you like how it plays and sounds. One of the least things I'd do is just to buy one without ever playing on it, and even if you have played on a similar instrument, I'd think twice before buying something of the intarwebz. Especially with low(er) priced guitars like these, is that they have quite lousy quality control. This means that even if the guitar you have played on it rock solid, the one you're ordering could have a mind boggling amount of little annoyances in it.

Whenever I'm buying a guitar, I have a couple of stages. Stage one: go to a shop(s) and try out guitars. You'll probably find one (or more) which you like. Step two: look up some reviews on it on the web, see what they say about it and importantly: what they didn't like about it. Step three: go back to the shop and take the guitar out for a spin. Check the entire guitar from the headstock to the lower strap button. If it seems to be okay to you, you can buy it.

My two cents.

up to you really, tho if you want a flying v it's a gibson or nothing, tho epiphone is a gibson subsiduary

really for the sound, it's more the pick ups and pedals doing it. not the guitar itself

I'd upgrade my current guitar, but its a piece of crap.
Ibanez GRX20 if you've heard of it.

My friend plays a Jackson RR3 and it's not really awkward for playing, the neck is at a different angle to how you would play a Les Paul for example but it's a minute gripe next to how much fun it is to play with the Floyd Rose bridge and the sound you get out of it. Plus I think it looks the coolest out of the 3 you've listed.

Get the Jackson.

Buy the used Epiphone, my friend had one that sounded really great. As for it being used, do what Alleged_Alec said and try it out if it's at a local guitar store.

TBH I think you should go to an actual guitar shop and you know... play it lol. I know you prolly want something that looks cool an all but £300 is a lot to spend on something that could potentially sound shit. Plus the feel of the guitar can vary a lot too such as fretboard thickness, weight of the guitar and so on.

I currently have 5 guitars (a lot i know lol) and i bought all of them (except 1) after playing them. The one that i didn't play sounds crap, weighs a ton and it is scratched to fook. And this guitar is a bc rich warlock which i paid about £300 for a few years ago.

You really want to buy a guitar that feels right for you and sounds nice. Looking cool is just a bonus but you won't be looking very cool if you can't play it or it sounds like a bag of cats being slung against a wall ;)

My fave guitar is actually 2nd hand though. I got it from a nice little shop in leeds and it's just the greatest thing to play, sounds awesome and i just feel more connected to it than any other guitar i've played. It's a Washburn dime (dimebag darrel sig version) btw. I would highly reccommend one of those!

Good luck!

Well, I'd say it isn't that much though. My guitar teacher has somewhere in the region of 40 of them.

And this guitar is a bc rich warlock which i paid about £300 for a few years ago.
Ah, that's the problemm =P

Joking aside, I'd also think that this might be a quite strange place to ask such questions.

Ah well it's a lot for my teeny tiny room lol :p I also have a keyboard and an accordian. I'd love to get a keytar some day tho :D

Yeah i agree, bc rich are just poo in general, and yeah it's prolly not the best place to ask about guitars haha. I think it would be better if he tried some before buying tho, it's a lot of money to waste imo.

Go try out the Epiphone at least, since it's at a local store, I'm sure they'll let you play it. Then decide if you'd like it.

The flying V. Jackson is a Metal guitar, and the other, if it has "dull pickups, it isnt worth it.
Im buying an Epiphone Les Paul this Christmas. Cant wait.

I'd have to say go for the Jackson, but if you're willing to spend a few more dollars, you could buy the Dean and replace the pick-ups.

i have a flying v... and i cant tell you how much i love my guitar... the sound its clean cut... the only cont... its that the body of the guitar is heavy as hell so if you plan to play whit that and you are... "slim" you may find it difficult and i mean heavy in comparation whit a fender telecaster or a stratocaster... if you can try it first... but i pic the flying v... :)
