What happened to G4?

I remember long ago when I could watch X-Play and actually get a gaming review out of it. X-Play isn't even all of it, G4 itself seems to be falling down the gutter lately. Hell, I used to only watch G4, then turn to my DVR and watch a Family Guy or two until Attack of the Show ended. However, I miss the old shows like (I think) Portal, The Electric Playground, Cheaters being it's own show, X-Play being half an hour, etc.

What do you think? I know some people disagree with me entirely, but I find that kind've hard to believe.

I watched it once, and wasn't impressed at all. There was a creepy snowman with a woody, so I just switched the channel. And never, ever, watched it again.

They tried to pull in more audiences, and pretty much failed.

Ninja Warrior is awesome though.

well those were the days when G4 was about video games. now its about...i have no idea what the hell its about now, but my point being is that xplay is the only thing left that even has anything to do with video games. but its not so much whats missing than it is the stupid crap they keep adding; great, now i have to rant:

why does AOTS keep replacing their news ladies? that british one was the sexiest and best at her actual job; now they go through blonde bimbos as fast as FOX does. also, i despise olivia munn with a passion; every word from her mouth reeks of "im attractive and have nothing else qualifying me to be here". what the hell does COPS have to do anything in regard to G4? it has no business being on the network. all the shows that I used to watch have slowly faded away, and even xplay is just a pale shadow of its former self, not even worth watching anymore for me.

While this is true unfortunately, I suspect either G4 will cancel out and hopefully a new gaming network can be created, or G4 will turn into the next Cartoon Network in the sense where everything is just regurgitated air that someone stays afloat.
As for the internet, I'm still waiting for popups to be on the power button.

G4 never really was for gamers, but now it really isn't. It always felt like a repository for people who couldn't even make it in local news, reading a teleprompter about Xbox games.

I hate G4 now. I usually watch Attack of the Show and XPlay, but the show line up is horrible. The lineup consists of:

OT: G4 was on life support for a while, I think its high time we just pulled the plug and put this failed experiment down.

I used to love G4. I applauded shows like Cheat!, X-Play, AOTS, Ninja Warrior, and Code Monkeys. I was deeply saddened when there wouldn't be any new Code Monkeys episodes, but when the damn line-up is nothing but COPS and Cheaters, they crossed the line. I have no respect for them anymore.

Cops destroyed G4. Also its hard to appeal to an audience thats interested in another medium. Any of the channels about movies, not watching movies but just talking about movies tend to not do so good ether.

All the host are unlikeable tossers who are annoying. Its should change it's name to Cops TV because that's all it is while it tries to be Spike Jr.

Clarification: I meant Cheat! Not Cheaters. I used to love watching a definitive answer on what cheats worked, considering half the sewage from CheatCC and GamesRadar doesn't work or isn't titled correctly and so I just see "Cheat Enabled" and have no clue what I did.

when i first starting watching G4 i loved it, that was back in the golden days of G4. Arena, icons(when it was about video games) cheat, old X-play when it was actually good. Now all i ever see on G4 is Cops, College Cops, and Start Trek, oh and the new X-play.

G4 is still more than alive and kicking.. the problem is, it's not still alive and kicking as a television station. If you are looking for news, reviews and (most importantly for me) intelligent discussion about games you owe it to yourself to check out G4's website. Unlike on the TV side of things, Adam Sessler is allowed to rule the G4 web presence with an iron fist and it shows. From well written reviews to intelligent vlogs, great stuff is put up there almost every day.

G4 has fallen far from what it used to be however G4tv.com is the real G4. the real g4 comedy is there the real X-Play is there and all the other things we love are there including my current favorite show FEEDBACK. Attack of The show is the only decent thing on the network now and X-Play would be good if they had more freedom and weren't rushed like they are now but on the site it's all good i just wish the old G4 would return soon. now i'm off to watch feedback so i can get my Abbie Heppie i mean video game fix.

I remember when G4 was called 'Tech TV', whic hwere good old days. Plus I miss that show Arena, it's like watching a football game, but it's clans playing games like CS:S and the like.

During middle-school I'd rush home after class to finish my homework so I could watch X-Play and AOTS (Always had Ninja Warrior on while doing homework). Now I catch an episode of X-Play maybe once or twice a week, if that.

X-Play's problem is that they're the only show on the network that reviews games naymore, so they have to skip over smaller or differant games and review the big ones. That and I get the impression that Sessler is the only one who actually likes vidoegames. Something about Morgan and Blair feels phony any forced.

Sessler (I assume I will be hit for saying this, so please just watch my teeth when you do, K?) actually knows his stuff. He his a video game enthusiast through and through and his opinions are usually his own, with little or no influence from anyone else. He talks about games as someone who understands the industry.

Other than him no one on G4 knows enough about much of anything for me to really care. Morgan Webb is just kind of there, Blair feels forced on us at times. Attack of the Show really serves no purpose other than soaking up an hour of your life.

The last time I cared about G4, was when they had Code Monkeys.
