In my opinion the games coming out for the nintendo wii consel are just getting stupider and stupider they're making games for 10 and lower I just think that they should come out with new games that are for older people and stop making games like Sonic At The olympic games

The Wii is not aimed at classical gamers.

Nintendo market it for "family fun" and that's why it has been so sucessful.

Well I think they just had a different goal to what real Gamers wanted, the wanted the demographic to be everyone* and churning out all these games is the way to do it.

I bought into it at first thinking some quality games with interesting concepts would emerge, but ended up buying a 360 because I'm not someone who gets excited over "Wii Cooking" or direct ports of Animal Crossing.

*Everyone meaning people who normally don't play games.

Wow. Quite the opinion.
Nintendo make games for their target audience, the ones who buy the most Wiis. Hence, their version of the DS' "Touch Generation" games. Some games are coming out, such as Mad World, but for the most part they will still choose to make the family-oriented games rather than those for the hardcore gamer.

I think 2009 is looking half decent for the Wii, and if Madworld takes off and becomes a cult classic, or if GTA chinatown does the same, we will probably be seeing more M games, which is never really a bad thing. They are in a void right now, doing what works, and what works happens to be painful to most gamers that have any type of talent in gaming. Mark my words, the Wii will turn it around, just give 2009 a chance first.

Well, that's business. Target the market that can make you the most money. It's pretty much an unspoken thing that the goal of going into business is to make money. See, if Nintendo targeted the faithful and completely ignored the "casual gamer" marker then they wouldn't be making nearly as much money, right? I sometimes wish I could sympathize with the fanbase but given how Nintendo's is exceptionally whiny that thought is destroyed almost immediately at conception.

The reason the Wii is flailing is because the "Honeymoon Period" is over, families no longer find it fun and type of family that does find it fun is branded an outcast of gaming society.

Really it's a good console but it just doesn't keep you interested for that long, with all of it's "Family Fun".

Sadly, Nintendo is a business. Their aim is to make money, and they care not who they hurt. Even the long time Nintendo fans.

Well I'm glad you try to sympathize.

The Wii has been firmly aimed at casual gamers, or a "family-friendly" type of console. Unfortunately, hard-core gamers want something that immerses you in story, action, and all the necessary elements that make a good game. Casual gamers prefer the pick-up and play routine. With that, Nintendo has failed at pampering the hard-core in exchange for the cash-flow that is the casual gaming enterprise.

Branch out and get a 360, PS3 or both as well. You'll still be able to hold the Wii as your favourite console ever, but you'll also be able to play games that don't suck. Just keep them well out of sight whenever your nintendo fan-boy friends come around to play Mario Party 16, or you'll be forever shunned by this rather sad clique.

If you're looking for a nintendo system that at least somewhat caters to the classic fanbase get a DS. Fire emblem, Zelda, Chrono Trigger, etc. Thats about as good as its getting for you.

ps. Please dont expect them to cater to their original fans. If you made a system that practically prints money due to its "Family" image, why would you screw that up?

Lawl. I love how "family fun" is in airquotes.

Long story short, Nintendo is making cash. Screw longtime fans if they can make money with a gimmicky stick to wank around.

If I'm to believe Yahtzee, it's not very effective, either. Your standards may vary, but as a mainstream gamer, I don't find anything particularly interesting for the Wii.

Oh yes, and the cheap(I'll add an "er" here, so we don't get whiners) hardware means they can sell it at a lower cost, which more people will buy merely for that fact if they're undecided, or am impatient to save up another couple hundred bucks.
