What Happened To The Wii?

The Wii will get more bad games because some retarded developers think that they can make a quick buck by making a bad game for a popular console. That happens with every good console.

The problem is that Nintendo's games are very good (but nothing new) and after they release their games the number of AAA titles decreases. This won't change in 2009 and maybe not even in 2010.

I also never understood the appeal of the Wii. It's not innovative or has many good games.

Its a nice console. If you dont like nintendo you wont like it after the wii.
They never had the strongest lineups, but i think that of the wii is nice and solid, its not extraordinary full of extremely good games (what other consoles appear to be), but it is a lot of fun, and definetly a step forwards.

If gamers want to get gaming accepted as a medium, we need people that get into gaming.
The stereotype of the game being a childs toy is contradicted today by the wii.
Sure most of em dont play classical games (the ones who i asked played em, but i trust this forum), but hey, they play, and theres nothing wrong about that.

I dont understand why everybody said nintendo betrayed em, there are games for hardcore gamers on the wii.
Do you seriously thin they would have GTA4 on a gamecube 2?

The SNES had a pretty strong lineup. Probably the best of all Nintendo consoles.

It had some great games like Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario RPG, Contra 4. Do I need to write more? I can.

Boom Blox, No More Heroes, Okami, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Resi 4, de Blob, Trauma Center, plus a very impressive Virtual Console library and the big hitters everyone knows about, Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime and upcoming titles such as Madworld say that you're wrong.

I can't help but notice how many posts like this you've made in the last few days. We're all glad you have an opinion, but there's no need to post it for the world to see. If you'd like to start a discussion, come up with a topic, make an argument, check your spelling, and use some "!.,`ing punctuation.

At the risk of feeding a troll, allow me to breakdown the argument you started with.

What do you mean games are getting "stupider"? They aren't as difficult to play? That was a stated goal of the Wii -- eliminating the complicated control schemes that made it difficult for young/old/inexperienced to start playing. You shouldn't have to sit through an hour long tutorial and memorize button combinations just so you can start playing a game. It also makes it easier to pick up a game and play for 10 minutes instead of having to dedicate hours to a game. A lot of people (adults with careers and families) don't have the time to dedicate to a game that a 12 year old has over summer break.

What's wrong with making games for 10 years and under? There's no reason they shouldn't have games too. Considering how many games over the last few years have been rated M, there's an entire market wide-open for E titles. As a parent, it's hard to play an M game with your 5 year old running around. It's nice to have a game you can show him and have him enjoy.

What's wrong with Sonic at the Olympics? Granted, the Sonic franchise has been milked until its tits have dried up and fallen off, but is there anything inherently wrong with a game based around the Olympics? It's a sports tournament celebrated around the world by adults of all ages. Seems like it should be a good fit for just about any gamer.

Lastly, what does Nintendo owe you? There's no reason they have to make a game that you'll like. They're obviously selling like hotcakes, so they must be doing something right. If you want a console with games aimed at "hardcore" gamers, grab an XBOX 360 or a PS3. Better yet, get a PC and you can play any game made in the last 20 years. You can always sell your Wii -- there's guaranteed to be a parent willing to buy it for their 5 year old.

As a note, I have a Wii that I don't play much because the games coming out aren't my style. So be it. It doesn't mean that the Wii is terrible or that Nintendo has their heads up their asses, it just means they aren't producing anything of interest to me. If they prefer their new market better (and I have no doubt they do), then good for them.

In sales.
Have another measure? One that isn't just your subjective opinion?
Well I'm not sure what "sucessful" is suppose to mean.
I meant successful as in it has sold a large amount of units.

That is what it is "suppose" to mean.

Well after the one of the worst games ever Chiken Shoot, the Wii closed its doors to most third party games, making your only options Mario goes plays tennis and gets luigi to suck him off 5 or some shit but I still have hope after playing God father and using motion controls to break some dudes neck I think there will be good games.... eventually.

It is strange that the Wii broke sales records in November, maybe broke them again in December, yet it has fallen off the map in terms of really good exclusive games. I wish there were concrete software sales figures for the consoles, to see how many games most people bought for each console, as well as what games sold the best.

I bet if they had porno games for the Wii the sales would skyrocket. The whole "family oriented" games are what's killing it i think.

Well yes that is what I think. Also considering its getting to be such a fad.

the wii's a gimmick, just like the eye toy; you like it for a while and then nothing comes out for it. There's about 4 or 5 that use the controller right and they're made by nitendo, no one else knows how to work it. and no exclusives for the past 4 months is not helping either
