I no longer want to be the guy
I love that game. I don't know if I ever really got frustrated by it as I entered it with expectations that it was going to be sheer lunacy, and it was.
Recently it was ironically, God of War 1 for me. I bought the collection on the PS3. While I don't think anyone would ever consider it a hard game there were a few parts that drove me insane.
1) the "spike room". You pull a lever and have to move a box to a location before spikes come out of the floor, killing you. I must have attempted this like 20 times - not because I couldn't get the box to the location, but because it had to be an in INCREDIBLY specific spot to BARELY be able to make the double jump (which you also had to do perfectly) to get to the ledge. It was uncharacteristic of the game.
2) The final (and I mean final) boss battle. The second time you fight Aries. It was just hard, so hard I had all his moves memorized and was dictating outloud what he was going to do before he did it - but there wasn't balls all I could do about it. He has 2 unblockable moves, 1 is the real kicker. It's a fast punch, you can't block, counter or dodge it. It's a punch though so it has short range. However, it stuns you. After the punch, he just fucking unloads on you - nearly killing you and almost bringing him to full health.
It was just a pain in the ass.
