That actually sounds a lot more intruiging then your average Wow. hmmm. If only I had the time.
Well, wait and see if you have a bit extra at the end of the year. I got a chance to talk to the lead writer, and he said they're pushing extra hard to get the game out this year, so when that time comes, send me a message or something if you pick it up and you can join me and my friend's guild :D

WoW is popul;ar because it USED to be cutting edge. the same reason Runescape gained popularity years back as well.
The only reason either of these two games still so much as EXIST is because of clingy defensive fanbases -.-

If you have a quick look around you WILL find a ton of great f2p MMORPGs out there, if you want something different from the generic "WoW clone" MMORPG (some of which ARE still quite fun on the basis of being technically superior to WoW) then check out a game like Draconica, Twelvesky2, Spiral Knights, Lunia, or some of the other thousands of good MMORPGs.

Quite frankly I see your point, a LOT of people have looked at WoW, thought "Hey that was successful" and made a carbon copy... sometimes better, but usually not.

What happened...

WoW happened...it became the "What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up" of the market

Its the cool kid everyone wants to be....some do it well and some...dont survive the first winter...

Im not one of those people who is on the:

STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC WILL SLAY WOW AND TAKE THE THRONE OF BEST MMO EVA! bandwagon

Personally it needs a lot of work...someone needs to smack the people who made the armor sets...fighting bad guys...not going to the Jedi High Prom... Also I dont like how it looks in the videos....Something seems wrong...

Only time will tell...

"Age of Conan is not World of Warcraft. Some people might say "Ooh, maybe it's not trying to be," but those people are going to Hell for lying because all MMOs are trying to be World of Warcraft: same controls, same terminology, same arduous blocks of motherfucking grind, same interfaces right down to the quest-givers with big golden exclamations marks growing out of their heads like they just spotted Solid Snake shuffling through the undergrowth." Yahtzee on Age of Conan

Pretty much replace "Age of Conan" with the current "Knights v Dragons Medieval MMO"

I still say EverQuest was a better game than WoW. I'd say the biggest problems MMORPGs face is the entitlement complexes of their players.
I agree. EverQuest was the best MMO I ever played. I still feel an attachment to that game and the things I accomplished while playing it. I played WoW quite a bit and while I enjoyed some of it, it really started feeling like a chore. 95% of the people who play WoW mooch and leech off those they play with and it really sucks the potential fun out of the game.
