What Have I Missed?

Hello Escapist Forum

I started purchasing some pc exclusive games off of steam yesterday and these are all the pc games I now own. I own the Starcraft battle chest(not from steam), TF2, Beat Hazard, Garry's Mods, Portal, Torchlight, Track Mania (Free), KotOR and I just got counter strike source(about to play it for the first time).

But I still have about $30 left and I am wondering if I am missing any extremely big/fun games.I mean games that have like a 9.5 out of 10 or something, games that you could never get bored of, a game like TF2, diablo, counter strike, or starcraft,. Make sure it is Pc exclusive though, I am not interested in a game I can buy on my xbox because I most likely have it and it is usually more pricey. If I can't fined any new games I am just going to download Diablo 2 for the first time or wait for really nice sells on decent games I've heard of.

Ps. My steam is Single_tap and I have no friends so if you wanna hit me up that would be cool.

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 are $30 each, why not pick up l4d2? Free maps from the community and a new dlc a few weeks ago.

I can also give a couple PROTIPS for CS:S

AK > M4
Flashbangs and smokes: use them.
You run faster with a knife
You need to use the strong stab to the back of the head if you want to instant kill someone with the knife.
make your crosshair small
auto snipers and the AWP are for pussies. Use the scout.
most importantly: PLAY THE OBJECTIVE.

There's no leveling in CSS, the basic controls are wasd=movement, b=buy and mouse is look and fire and ctrl is crouch. As there is no leveling, you dont need to worry about being owned in the first 3 seconds. Though that said, you can't go run and gun into firefights, take it slow..

No I think it's part of the server. Once you kill someone you get a new weapon and it says you upgraded a level in the text. Along with everyone else. For when I am in normal matches how do I use the money?

ALRIGHT HOMES LISTEN UP

I'm sure you got the basic wasd movements down. space is jump, ctrl is crouch, etc (you can customize, obviously).
On default: Press shift to walk. Why walk? because your footsteps are quieter then.
Use the number bar to select your weapons, not the scroll wheel. it's faster.

About the level up thing: I'm pretty sure you're referring to the money. After each round more cash is added to your little account. At the start of each round you can press 'b' to bring up the buy menu. Here you can choose between a wealth of goodies with which to kill another person. Buy your stuff using the cash and then close the menu. (You'll want to buy kevlar+helmet and a full supply of each grenade, btw).

If you not referring to the money I'd assume your playing on a surf server or some custom gametype. If you are then get the hell out of there. Try to find a server that is playing on a de_ or cs_ map, which is detonation (pretty much demolition from MW2) and hostage rescue (title is self explanatory).

Protip for CS: bind mouse scroll for fire when using semiauto weapons, particularly the desert eagle.

That is Gun Game. It is fun but nothing to do with the original CSS gameplay.

I would suggest King's Bounty maybe (like might and magic but different)

You should get S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, then get this mod [http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009], which updates the game to current-gen standards, and fixes a lot of bugs.

The only truly impressive thing about Deus-Ex is its level design, which is some of the best in gaming even today. Other than that: outdated graphics, mediocre story, decent gameplay. You can save 10 bucks and give it a pass.

Enjoy a game where it seems the developers though of anything - feel free to kill some of the more important NPCs halfway thru the story to see what happens, the fact that unlike most FPSes, this one has actually quite extensive maps, so from hardcore rocketwielding walking tank to supersilent sniperrifle ninja, there's usually a path that's right for you.

Otherwise I can recommend STALKER: SHadow of Chernobyl. Play it once without mod, then mod it.

Also, Starcraft through steam? Wtf? I thought Blizzard had their own service.

I'd definatly reccomend Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour (but ONLY with the Zero Hour expansion!), I've had that game for years and I'm still not bored of it. The units are fun and unique, the armies are powerful and can still surprise you when you learn new tactics after a LONG time and the amount of generals in the expansion keeps the game fresh as you circle through them. The origional Generals was rubbish though, truly a case where the expansion was better than the actual game.

you realise that Diablo and Starcraft aren't on steam right? you're not just saying steam and meaning every digital distribution service you use? also Starcraft trilogy?? even including the expansion pack you're not quite there yet.... #2 will be out next month.
OT: try Impulse out, they do some half decent deals on RTS and RPG games. Supreme Commander Gold (SupCom + the expansion) is cheap on there not to mention the awesomeness of Sins of a Solar Empire
