What games do you think were hyped but you only noticed when you stopped caring about them any more? Whenever I see Portal 2 mentioned I have to cringe slightly about the hype that got me carried away about it. There's almost nothing to this game, really. Yes, it's something "different", but some of the reviews and reactions back then created such a favorable mood toward this game, and I also a short while before really appreciated what Valve did in Half Life Episode 2 in a replay, and these quotes about "our best singleplayer game yet" and "so many surprises", that I eventually thought every little good thing about it was great, while it really is forgettable in the end.
