Self-defense is the major one. Try to hurt me or those I care about, and you will unleash the monster in me that should never (repeat: NEVER!!!!!) be brought to the surface.
Also, protecting the weak and innocent would be another. That is one of the reasons I am pro-intervention. I dont think a dictator should be able to murder his own people to stay in power or for the lulz, and then get off scot free because "Its not our problem." Screw that!
EDIT: Oh yes, I forgot, if I ever join the military obviously I would kill. However, I think I would rather join the Navy. Why?
1) I would have several tons of steel between me and anything trying to attack me. Plus, no US ships have been destroyed since the end of WW2, so its a very good surivial rate.
2) Can exactly feel regret for what you are shooting when all you do is pull the trigger to fire a cruise missile from 50 miles away on a cruiser.
As long as they are the only ones killed, my opinion of them will be "Dumbass." If they kill someone else, "Thats a damn shame."

I am kind of from that school of thought too, with the Darwin award requirement of "Were people actually being intellagent injured/killed by the moron?" It is for that reason that I have less problems with people not wearing thier seatbelt, but plenty with them drinking and driving. If you drive drunk, odds are you will crash into someone else, thus you are not the only victum of your own stupidity. If you dont were a seatbelt, the odds of you killing someone is when you go flying through the windshield is laughably small.TestECull said:I disagree. If they know the consequences and risks and knowingly disregard both there is no tragedy. It's not tragic if someone sticks their head in a running wood chipper on a dare and gets sucked in. It's not tragic if someone breaks in and gets blasted to kingdom come. It's not tragic if someone drinks 9 gallons of beer and then slams into a bridge pier at 110MPH.
