I don't know what. I'd start off by investing a modest amount in shares. The rest might be a headstart for a mortgage deposit, though I'd be tempted to spend at least £2000 on my dream holiday to Japan.

It'd depend on what I was doing at the time. If I was relatively secure, maybe put some of it into some stocks and shares where there's an opportunity for some growth and see if it pays off, while using the rest to pay off debts and the like. If I was less secure, it'd go on trying to change that, be it investing in something I could use to work, or just to keep the wolf at bay.
