Atari would've perhaps remained relevant for a bit longer without the NES making them seem obsolete. Tho no NES could've also led to an earlier rise of Sega with the SG1000 and a couple years later the Master System, perhaps even effectively taking Nintendo's place as top dog for the 8 and 16 bit eras. Without Nintendo, there might also not be a Playstation, since their kerfuffle with Sony was a major instigator into joining the console race, which in turn might also be another boon to Sega's potential success, provided they don't stupid themselves out of the business like they did in reality.
