Hey guys, there is this new FPS called Homefront coming out and I was wondering what people have heard about it.

The story seems solid, and the graphics are great (but who's aren't in this age of games?) but I just heard of this today and it seems that talk of this guy should have been around for quite a while.

This is their website http://www.homefront-game.com/#/home

Any info would be appreciated.

That's a short article to start with, but it only took me five seconds to find! What a wonderful age of great innovation and technological advancement we live in! ;)

Gee, why didn't I think of checking there. Oh wait, I did.

The only thing I can think of is they are saving the info for just after the 4th quarter push so it will be fresh and not overdone by slightly earlier releases.

Yep, that's pretty much all I know about it as well. From what I gather (mainly from a video I caught on X-Box Live) it's an alternate future of sorts where Korea has been unified and goes around getting enough of those far eastern countries to band together in some sort of coalition that then takes on the US on it's own turf.

Sounds fairly interesting as a premise, should make a change from the Russians and contemporary real world conflicts some (well, one that I can think of) recent games are focussing on.

The wikipedia article seems to sum it up pretty clearly... Check EBgames.com if you want screenshots, but otherwise, wikipedia has the infor out on it for now

It looks like an interesting premise. I can never help but be turned away by games like this though. As a Birt, I can say before its even come out this game will be full of Americans bigging up America, massively over blown patriotism, cut scenes of speeches going about freedom, an anti dictatorship message, a moving scene where the stars and stripes torn and tattered fall to the ground, and collimating in the US winning over all with some heroic speech about how you saved everyone.

I realise the US is a massive market but can you tone down the "we are awesome" aspect of your games so they are actually playable by people in other countries without making us cringe.

Homefront looks a lot like Freedom Fighters [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_Fighters_(video_game)] in which the Soviets got the bomb first and succeeded in taking over the world. A solid squad based game with decent stealth and action play.

It's also notable in that it doesn't really end with America on top, but the freedom fighters acknowledging their victory is only fleeting in the wake of the Soviet war machine.

As for the jingoism in our games, I'm afraid you might have to endure that for a bit until most of us recover from the harsh discovery that we, too, can become fascist bastards (and fast!) and until the rest of us come to realize that we aren't all that -- that the glory of American Might has its limits and its costs.

In the meantime, Homefront has a well made teaser. One can only hope the game's production values are just as good.

The most important thing to know is that North Korea will ban it and that it's probably not going to be good for American / DPKR relations.

As far as I'm concerned, the game is called "Freedom Fighters 2" and I am totally getting it on release.

looks like a really good story, although the story seems abit like BC2 but instead of russians its koreans

although unlike BC2 it seems like a well constructed story and i like how the trailer is real footage.

hopefully you play as a regular american (obviously with a large weapons rack) defending his home

I've heard of it, and at the same time I dismissed it. It looks like Yet Another Shooter, just instead of Russians or Arabic baddies you have Koreans.

And the entire idea of the game, in the "Fight on your own turf!" of "Oh, what if the United States was taken over" alt-history? That's been done time and time again. So apparently the big innovation is having the lights out.

It's going to be a generic shooter.

I've been watching it for months, looks pretty sweet. Naturally I'll wait to see if it's any good before giving it a whirl, but it looks promising.

This seems interesting, but the same was said to Frontline Fuels of War, and that wasn't exactly a good FPS game (Overshadowed by better ones), the trailer gives off the impression that this one will have the same premise and background as Frontlines, only with Koreans.

Also, how did the Koreans get their hands on the Goldeneye?
