Tell me about it. (Also with an American girlfriend here) It seems that whenever I meet someone who is American (male or female) they seem to have some kind of accent fettish. Though, I will admit that when I met an American couple last year, they mistook me for being Australian... yeah... I'm from the West Midlands...The Diseased Toe said:So my girlfriends American friends always tell me how cute my British accent is (even though it isn't a "stereotypical" Londoner's accent), but I was just wondering what it is that American girls find so attractive about them...

Whenever I go to the states I find that people spend half the time trying to work out what country I'm from... when I say England they look shocked. Maybe its the slight west mids accent I have. The Diseased Toe said:So my girlfriends American friends always tell me how cute my British accent is (even though it isn't a "stereotypical" Londoner's accent), but I was just wondering what it is that American girls find so attractive about them...

And then abandoned the idiot to himself.
I think most Americans born in the early 90's to maybe the the late 70's can recognize a Leeds accent as "The black girl from Spice Girls had that one."MiketheBassMan said:Wishing no offense to the residents of Great Britain, no one here in America can tell the difference between the accent in most of the country, except for the most glaringly different ones. While I'm sure there's no identifiable generic, we most certainly have a solid understanding of what the generic British accent would be. Something like Stephen Fry or Jeremy Clarkson.
Much love for Welsh accents from me, dude!this isnt my name said:Whenever they say British its some English accent, no one likes the welsh![]()
Southwest england, a bit like Samwise Gamgee but much milder. I do know people who talk like him.Squidden said:West Britain or West North America?Furious Styles said:I'm west country, but only mildly. I think I have a pleasant accent.
West North Americans (Not too Western, mind you) have pretty good accents.
Allow me to say this: I have never met a British person who has ever sounded like the American 'British' people on TV.The Diseased Toe said:I suppose what I mean by the British accent is the one always portrayed on American TV.
