Well as i understand life is merely a Self sustaining chemical reaction, and scientlifically that's true.
But is there any relevance to that? why did it happen?
I want to hear what you people have to say about life, on a more philosophical level?
There are lots of things that are classed as alive, from small unsensual bacterium, to complex organisms that can build stars. But is there really a difference, we obviously believe life to be highly important, since we are alive, and life is all we know.
What are connections between life and the mind, or even the soul. Do living things have souls, if so then it can't have anything to do with the mind, since said unsensitive bacterium don't have brains to produce a mind.

I realise that i'm rambling complete non-sensical natter, so basically i'm giving you leave to discuss your thoughts on life, philosophical, scientific or even ethical, go mad.

Honestly? I don't care. I'm going to try to enjoy myself before I pass on. That is my only goal.

On a grammatical level, I believe the correct term is non-sensical.

[sub]Baby don't hurt me?[/sub]

To me, something is alive if it can interpret its surroundings and react accordingly. Not a very well thought out definition, but whatever.

Perhaps I should just say that something's alive if it contains DNA. Whatever.

I don't belive in a soul and all that stuff though.

Don't worry. I doubt anyone else cares. Just couldn't resist it.

With regards to the little matter of life, I don't think we're ever going to understand it fully. Just live it, and see where it goes.

My moral philosophy: Life's a ***** and then you die.

Metaphysics has beaten me up enough for me to understand I couldn't give a single answer to anything.

So I've splitted myself into an "emotional" and "objective" part. As for example I follow a strong ethical code (spawned from my own personality) where I justify my actions from what I feel, but from an objective view I can't say that any of my ethics are right or just.

Doublethink is a fine thing, and possibly my solution to avoid going too insane.

For the more I try to delve into these things, the less reality makes sense. In fact, the surreal, and the dreamworld, makes much more sense to me now than reality.

To live and die on your terms, not someone elses. This is what bugs me about religion, but I'm not going to touch the subject. Point is, if you want to live like a king, or honestly prefer being drunk under a bridge, do it. If anyone stops you, then you wasted some of your life.

Your questions are more related to sentience than they are to life itself... you already answered the what is life question... but sentience... that's a whole'nother story...

I personally think it doesn't matter what you do, because non of it matters, we're just another part of this universe slowly ticking away, we were created by accident and have no real importance.

I also don't believe in free will, everything we think and do is decided by billions upon billions of changing variables surrounding us.

Just go with it.
