"Me" is a concept born out of the sum of your perceptions of how other people perceive you.

see your brain as a magical house. it has halls and corridors with windows and trapdoors and ropes to swing from in all kinds of directions

that, or your brain is still a house, but more centralised, more straigt. think the backdoors sequince in the matrix movie.

these are 2 ways to describe 2 kinds of strong notacable things in people,
the first one, is chaotic and creative, the other, ordered, logica, and probably better then me at math XD

yet, not all persons chaotic are the same, nor are persons who are logical.
whats the difference? magnatism. YOU are a magnetic fluctuation, in my idea that is, that at the time of your birth got trapped in your brain.
if and when you die, the entire, well imagine a blob of magnetisme brainsized?
blob that is you will be released.
and if your lucky the entire you will get stuck in a new brain. this is reancarnation, it dousnt happen verry often human/human
but think of it this way, an ants brain is a lot smaller. your big puddle of you is more then big enough to fill it a hundredfold. you can easily be you, inside an ant. so the damn budhists are right again XD

although, its quite possible that a hundred thousand little pieces of you land everywhere and are just recycled without memory. think static noise on your tv.

well thats just my mad idea about it. explanes the random stuff that happend globally as best i can XD
If you wrote that as a joke, i would kiss you for being so funny. If not, could you clean up the spelling and grammer a little. Im worried that i misunderstood the point you were making. Thats giving you the benefit of the doubt, by the way. If you're really saying what i think you're saying. . . . WOW.

Do you believe in an existence after death? If so, then "you" are not your brain, body, or anything else physical, because all of that dies and rots away. And, I believe, your personality is based on your experiences, which is stored in memory in your brain, so that also is lost after death. So, "you" must be something other than thought. Have you ever felt your consciousness beyond thinking? That's probably "you."

If you don't believe in life after death, then "you" are whatever you want to be. Or whatever everyone else thinks you are. It doesn't really matter.

@Kimdeal

No, I was sincere. Cant really tell on the web though. Anyway, have this x-tra large double choc subway cookie embedded with m&m's and warmed in an oven till its just nice and melts in your mouth. Sincere enough? Oh and if you hate double choc, thats just not cool.

@thahat

You lost me at "YOU are a magnetic fluctuation, in my idea that is, that at the time of your birth got trapped in your brain.

Alright, just didnt seem like it was that great an achievement.

And thats about where i got lost too. I like the bit where you say our electro blob is big, and ants are small, so our blob can easily fit in an ant. Again, not sute if im reading this right, but its pretty fricken funny.

Your "you" is a constantly moving stream of energy in your brain, so you could think of your brain as the landscape that shapes "you", I suppose.

I was talking to my brain the other night(yes I'm serious) And I realised if my brain controls what I do does this mean my brain is talking to itself, or is it my mind talking to my brain thus them being to different entity's thus does my brain control everything I do and if so is the brain really part of me or is it just making sure I live!

Then I went to sleep.

thanks thahat, still confusing, but a tad more readible.

I suppose if you consider that the brain works through electrical impulses, and electricty and magnitism are pretty much one and the same (sort of), you could say that there is some sense in what your saying.
Unfortunately, when you say about this "transfer", it seems like something that would be very easy to detect. It would either have to be a really strong field (which would make it more detectible) or ir would be rather weak (making it so easy to distort, given that most people are surrounded by electric fields when they die).

So, i guess you mustnt really mean magnitism, but something . . . different.

Could you explain the ant thing again?

Even so, point is pretty much the same. Once you attach a physical, natural, measurable effect to something like universal consciousness or reincarnation, you're just asking for trouble. at least if you say that there is a spirit that is seperate to the natural world, you only have to engage in a philosophical discussion. When you start talking about a measurable force. . . . yeah. Not a hell of a lot to say.

put it like this, they can already measure the electricity in your brain shifting around when you think certain things. thought controlled software etc. is already possible... to a degree, im not entirely mad in proclaiming this ;)

I'm tired and have a headache, so I apologize if I'm not entirely clear, but you can probably get the gist of my meaning, anyway.
Ok, as a philosophy minor I am pretty sure I can answer this for you. You are the sum of your parts: your brain, soul/mind, your body, etc. What makes you you is your (what are known as) private experiences. That is just like it sounds: experiences only you have. Private experiences include thoughts, emotional feelings, and physical feelings. Is this making sense?

It's the entirety of you, mind and body combined, they are not completely separate.

Me, is my entire body working in unison. If I were just a head, but the rest of body worked as well. then when I was referring to my head, I would say my head, and my body as my body. Where as, if all I was was a head, and my body didn't function. I was refer to my head as me. For thats the only living part of myself.
