it's a water vortex a lake, or river.. they do happen more commonly in man made ones, or dams. what basically happens is a sinkhole opens and it fills up, or a cave system under collapses and creates a void.

also as said bell mouth spill way's do this too

Its a sink drain. It happens when the riverbed gives way and the water rushes into an unknown cave network. It happened once in some town in america and drained the docks, it also sucked four boats down with it. Very rare thou.

I would've payed a million dollars just to see the faces of the people who were on those boats, I doubt there would be people on those boats but still I doubt you would ever see a face with that much shock and disbelief ever again. Yes I'm bad person.
