There are no good assault rifles. They're all built to hurt or kill people, and that is not my definition of "good".
Yes, but which one is the best at killing or hurting people?

I would have to say the ak-47, because if it's used so much around the world it must be doing something right.

Have you EVER fired an AK-47?

They are one of the most reliable rifles ever made. They field strip easily and only have like 7 parts. Less to clean and less that can break.

They aren't accurate enough to win any competition shooting matches, but they are more than accurate enough to hit a man-sized target from hundreds of yards away, which is all you would ever need.

Yah, that and they can sit in a muddy field for a long ass time and then be fired with out really having to worry too much. The AK is one of the ultimate weapons of war.

its shit like thats that people need to remember when they wonder why our country has such a bad reputation!
even if your joking all it takes is for this to be seen by someone who thinks your serious.
You do realize you are asking me to give up my right to free speech because you don't like what I said. If I do will you promise to make the trains run on time and punish the traitors to fatherland?

I quote Ian Kershaw "The path to Auschwitz was paved with indifference." Mindless flag waving allowed an unjustifiable war to start that has ended the lives of well over three thousands US Soldiers,Marines, Air Force and Navy personnel who bravely volunteered to serve. The money invested in fighting the Iraq War could literally provide affordable health care to every US citizen, improve and build schools so US students can compete abroad academically and eventually economically as entrepreneurs and workers thus repaying every dollar spent several times over. I may say nasty things because America is not weak and does not needs it's feeling protected. We all have to face cold hard truths about what we have and are doing at home and abroad and actually change for the better as individuals and as a nation.
im not FORCING you to give up anything. i am merely making a sugestion. you have the right to say what you like, but that doesnt always mean its a good fucking idea.

According to popular wisdom [speaking of which, who are these invisible trend-setters?] the AK47 and family will always win out. They tell us it will fire after environmental abuse; you can get the ammo almost everywhere; and it does have a good rate of fire. In a L4D situation though, I'd pick a HK 36C always. Should one not present itself immediately for zombie mowing duties, I guess I'd go with the L85A2 IW [SA80, apologies] though I'm not a big fan of the scope they use.

A bit off-topic. Should it come to handguns I'd probably chose the old Webley Mark VI [highly unrealistic as the ammo is no longer common] because there aren't many things that can get up after a .455 welcome. Ease of maintenance and no mechanical failures.

I wouldn't know. I've never fired either gun, but my vote goes to the AR-33 Assault Rifle because it's the best option to get rid of a proximity mine without wasting one of yours.

The AK-47 is frequently cited in this thread as being the "best assault rifle." The question is what is your terms for "best." While the AK's design allows it to be very reliable in terms of not jamming, this is not the end-all be-all for gun quality.
The SA80 (L85) is in my opinion the most accurate assault rifle in production today. Here's a link for more info : http://www.famous-guns.com/sa80/

I said that you asked me to give up my rights not forced. Now if you forced me to give up my right to free speech than the Second Amendment may or may not come into play. Now if what I say is slander than a judge can stop me or fine me or if what I say is a threat to you or the public than the authorities have the right to stop me and if I resist the right to use lethal force to stop me.

Try finding an AK-47. They don't fucking exist anymore. 47 stands for the year 1947 when production began, you'd have to steal it from a fucking museum or some ones grandfather. When you say "yeh I'd go fer a ak47 lulz," all you are really saying is that you would want an AK-74 or one of the Chinese clones of the 47. All of which are basically as reliable as the original model, with differences in caliber and quality of material.
Damnit.
Anyway. That aside I would probably choose some bullpup rifle design. They allow for longer barrel length in a smaller overall package, plus I am right handed so I wouldn't have to be massively alarmed about building corners.

YAY we're both exercising our rights! :)
so you can continue to spew your anti-american hatred and i will continue to laugh at your childish idealistic views.

I'd have to say something along the lines of a G3.
I've always had this attraction to semi auto weapons, and if not that then I would agree with the rest of you and say AK-47

I would like to cite a company, FNH. They have gems such as the SCAR-H/L line, and FAL.

Not to mention their work in the handgun and submachine guns with the five-seven, and p90 respectively.
