RPGs get my vote. Nothing I have played since Morrowind has equaled it and I don't expect anything ever will.

Platformers mostly due to the fact they tend to be more fun then any other game type. Spyro Jak R@C Sly cooper Maro 64. They tend to just be fun.

My personal preference is the old school RPG like Baldurs gate, I probably should play through Dragon age since they are similar, I bet I would enjoy it.
If you like old school RPGs, there's probably alot of games you should play before DA.
How did I know you would catch wind of this Anthraxus? ^^

I've played enough of em, like IWD, IWD 2, Planescape torment, both baldurs gate games (Especially the first one).

However I'm always lookin for more since it's my favourite game type, so please can you give me a list of what I'm missing out on?

This is a bit of a tricky one...

I'd probably say action-adventures or RPGs. The ones with the focus on exploration and freedom rather than just story.

Although I haven't played it [*flameshield*], I'm pretty sure that Diablo stood the test of time for a reason. Lots of loot to loot, lots of enemies to kill, lots of different playstyles to try out and a ton of replay value.

Dark Souls also springs to mind for similar reasons.

Out of all...

>RTS
Its probably my most played genre, I mean, I try not to complete a game as fast as possible, but I played the FUCK out of SC2's campaign. I though every level was fun, and I hope other rts's have the same idea in future
Oh and also what's not fun about controlling weapons of mass destruction e.g. an entire Baneblade.

I feel really good that the first comment on the thread answered it.

I love third person action games.
It doesn`t matter if it`s a shooter, action adventure, open world, jump`n`run or a hack`n`slash.
Seeing good/great animated characters in action doing stuff is awesome. With a character editor it`s even better.

That's a big turn-off for me in military shooters. Another big difference in the more tactical shooters like OFP/GR1/early R6 games compared to most military shooters.
In those shooters people usually keep their rifles on semi auto anyway, recoil is almost imperceptible until you have to let loose.

R6 was a special series to me because it combined the use of single accurate shots with full auto on close quarters.

I like me some Action/Adventure games, like Legend of Zelda, Assassin's Creed, Just Cause, et cetera. Preferably in third person, but first person is good as well.

Games that provide emergent gameplay. Games that maximize agency of the player.

And most of the lists so far are story driven ironically, and just about nothing made so far has managed to pull off what would be characterized as a bad job compared to other medium, especially cinema and literature.

Games aren't even in the silent picture stage of pulling off decent plot and character development. It's simply too difficult to do (and maybe even impossible) because agency leads to branching that creates orders of magnitude permutations that can't be contended with properly.

So, the solution, at least as far as I'm concerned, is to mainly enjoy games that make little or no attempt at story since they do it so badly it destroys immersion utterly.

There's zero story or plot in TF2, the story is written by the players in real time. There's no need to worry about hearing the same freakin brain dead five lines a half ass writer put in the mouths of an NPC, because humans make up these characters and the story they tell is different every single time.

I prefer hybrids like Action Adventure/RPG's but if we're not talking about those I'd have to say either adventure games or platformers.

Ooh, that is a tough one. I guess it all depends on what I want to play. Sometimes I might want to lean back, relax and turn off my brain while I enjoy some simple FPS-games (that's not to say that all FPS-es are simple). Other times I might want to get engrossed in the vast and expansive worlds of RPGs, their stories and characters. Maybe I want to experience the challenge of platformers and master them.

But I guess if I had to choose, it'd be the adventure games in the style of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Metroid and Zelda. Just because I love to explore and discover (True, you can do this in most RPGs too, but there never seems to be any reason to do so..). Also, adventure games can be extremely varied, so there's seldom any downtime.

Well, only get Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate edition. don't get dragon age 2. It is a good game but more like god of war effect 2 than dragon age 2.
I like rpgs. Any rpg, other than jrps. I love Elder scrolls, mass effect, dragon age, and kotor. I also like stuff like bastion, diablo, and mount and blade which aren't technaclly rpgs but play like the ones i have. I tried to get into baldurs gate but it wasn't all that fun for me. I might try it again but I was expecting something li da:eek: or kotor.
