Let me see:

Best: Gundam Exia. I liked his more slim style, and that he was not the usual "sword, rifle, shield" configuration of the main gundams, but instead is a close combate specialist with lots of blades and a really nice moveset. And besides...The show may be called 00, but the Gundam who decided everything in the end was still the good old Exia.

Worst: Wing. I'm not talking about Wing Zero, that thing was a beast, i'm talking Gundam 01 Wing, the first Heero unit, mainly because he just got beat up, and before getting Epyon or Wing Zero, the best Heero fights were in other machines, like the Heavyarms. The thing about Wing, is that a lot of other machines eclypsed Wing and most fans have their own favorites, i like the Heavyarms Custom from the movie and the Tallgeese V3 for example.

My favorite main Gundam would have to be a tie between Shining and Burning/God Gundam. I have so much nostalgia toward both those mobile suits and i still think their designs really hold up today. for worst I'm going to have go with ZZ Gundam- I just hate how bulky it looks compared to the other main Gundams.

Always been very fond of the Alex from 0080. Sure, its not the most powerful, but ther leg design and those pop-out miniguns were really cool. Liked the pilot too... really wish more people would get that she didn't suck, just that the suit was tuned for a newtype, which she wasn't

When I thought this thread was going to be about which series was the best/worst out of the Universal Century, I was totally going to put 0080 as the best. In just a few short episodes, the writers managed to make a very emotional piece that lingers with you for a bit. It was just perfect.

Best: Nu Gundam (Gundam boiled down to its quintessential strengths; simplicity at its finest)

Worst: Strike Freedom (Blingy and Gaudy)

I would actually have to say that G-Gudnam has the best gundams, if only because they are the ONLY ones that are actually pilotable in a believable in-universe way.

All other gundams simply lack the complex controls needed to do even half the stuff they do in the show, most of them move via foot pedals that move ONLY forward and backwards..... how the hell do they side step? or kick?

also, ERUPTING BURNING FINGER!, best attack

Gotta go with Shining Gundam...mostly because I've only watched G Gundam. Recently tried to watch it again, EHKOS Jr. didn't mind terrible dialogue apparently. It's still cool, and I like a lot of the designs, like Master, Rose, Shuffle Alliance, and some of the one-off country ones. I liked Windmill just because it was kinda out there.

I should watch other Gundam series'.

Agreed. 0080: War in the Pocket is IMO one of the best if not the best in Universal Century in terms of storytelling. Its amazing what they did with only six episodes. Such a shame its so underrated.

Worst: Strike Freedom (Blingy and Gaudy)
While the Strike Freedom is far from the bottom of my list, this is why I prefer the original Freedom over the Strike Freedom. The gold painted joints and hands and the giant beam cannon in the chest were just over doing it.

Obviously the best in WIng Zero Custom
And worst I'd have to go for Seed designs. They just look so silly and over exaggerated mesh of previous designs.

I'm a have to break this ***** down some. and into 3 categorys.

and here they are in no order

The Good:
Wing Gundam Zero;
Wing was the first Gundam series I watched, so Zero was the first 'upgraded' suit I came a cross, and the thing is just such a massive upgrade over the Wing in terms of both the suits ability's and just looks its hard to hate it. The EW version is pretty cool to.

Freedom Gundam;
dat intro [https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2DLY-xw4nKQ#t=904] plus the thing looks great and is armed in a way I find highly appealing, and unlike The Strike Freedom it feel like a 'necessary upgrade', no plot related bullshit, no fan-service or 'we need a new model to sell' baggage here. (cept Kira surviving the Ageis's self detention that is but -.- meh, SEED didn't have the best writing ever)

Exia;
The only suit I really warmed up to in 00, and in no small part due to its primary weapon, plus the fact they decided to end the final battle between Setsuna and Ribbons by having the switch from the 00-Riser and Ribbons Gundam, to the Exia and 0-Gundam was even more reason to like it. Other then that, I have always like the close quarters combat suits more then the ranged ones. Also, Dark Matter Exia is my favorite from Build Fighters. So there's that.

The Strike;
It's look and the striker packs. the fact it was designed to allow for different equipment for different situations makes it another suit I find hard to hate.

Pre-Mass Production Land Combat Gundam;
The look, and over all simplicity of the suit and it's weapon systems are why I still have a soft spot for this one.

Zeta;
hate the pilot, love the suit. It looks good, and in a way I think its the better 'transforming MS' compared to the Wing due to having an actual BEAM RIFLE and not just a huge beam cannon.

Unicorn;
This one is kind of an odd ball of the group in that I can't really divorce it from the show and look at it on its own. It was just to important to the plot. Which is probably why I like it, it was important to the plot. Cause visually, eh ... Unicorn mode is ok, the 'horn' defiantly makes it stand out, but the thing doesn't look truly 'good' until Destroy mode [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_XKP_dK3YQ] is activated. Favorite. Super Mode. In. Gundam. BTW (second is Trans AM)

Star Build Strike;
I love this thing :D it's the perfect 'face suit' for a show where a suit is only as good as the time and imagination used to build it. It looks good, it's a god damn tank, it's ability's don't break what one would think a suit should be able to do in that universe. Sure, not very original, but I can over look that in this case cause its a fun suit, and some times, 'fun' is enough.

The Bad:
The Impulse;
It's a slightly different looking Strike, that all. Which would be tolerable if it looked better, or had some kind of step forward the Strike didn't have/couldn't have had added, but since it doesn't......

Strike Freedom;
First strike, the complete and total BULLSHIT REASON IT EXISTS [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcWHKT8eH8s]. second strike, it's less visually appealing then the Freedom. Third strike; final nail in the coffin for just how pants on head retarded the writing in Destiny was. It was at no point necessary, nether the Destiny Gundam nor the Legend Gundam where significant enough 'upgrades' to really warrant it, it was the most shameless bit of pandering fan service and 'we need a new model to sell' I've seen.

00-Riser;
Not a fan of how it looks, but I can forgive that. What I can't forgive is it's 'Quantumization' ability's (where it turns to glowing space dust and reassembles). If it where G-Gundam or Build Fighters I could over look a 'lol magic *****' ability, but 00 isn't that kinda Gundam series, so it kinda ruined part of 00 for me.

Nu Gundam;
Never really liked this suit, not sure why, but this design has always been one I don't like.

Anything from AGE;
Not seen the show, but I've seen the suits. Not one of them looks good to me.

Gundam MKII;
It looks ok, but really, there's nothing about this suit that makes it worthy of note.

The Meh

The Destiny Gundam;
Yup, I kinda like this one. it is a VERY flawed MS, with several systems that make no sense or have no business working at all, let alone like they do, but it looks good and pretty much IS what the Impulse should have been to begin with, and I guess that's enough for me to forgive its flaws, to a certain point anyway.

A-Turn;
Not a fan of the over all design of the suit, but I don't hate it ether, and yeah, I kinda like it's bitchen mustache

Gundam-X;
While it IS a good looking suit and an improvement on the 'main characters suit has a beam cannon for its main weapon' type, it didn't actually be come anything note worthy for me until Build Fighters and Mao's custom Gundam X.

Burning/God Gundam;
Little to much shonen in my Gundam. It's still a fine suit, and one I like over all, but >.> The Star Build Strike, and more over, Build Fighters on the whole, is just so much better.

Some people seem confused as to what a gundam is
A gundam is a designation for specific mobile suits, usually those created with gundanium or it's equivalent in the universe
Not all humanoid robots in the gundam shows are gundams they are mobile suits or fighters, all gundams are mobile suits but not all mobile suits are gundams
Most gundams can be identified by their signature "gundam eyes" and mouth plate goatee combo

What op refers to as main gundams are usually dubbed lead gundams which can usually be identified by their red white and blue color scheme, but not all leads follow this rule and many shows have multiple leads

Personally I don't think there is a single bad lead gundam design
Many are uninspired and ape off the granddaddy rx 78 a bit too themuch but none are horrible

Also if there needs to be any more proof of Turn A's perfection, it had the honor of being the 100th master grade figure not the original not whatever was probably airing at the time, no it was the Turn A that Bandai believed deserved the title of 100th and its still one of the best kits to date.

Oh, another I have always liked, though it may not count as a Gundam (though it was in the running to become the Zeta Gundam during the design phase of the series, so maybe it counts) is the Hyaku Shiki

I've just always thought it looked cool.

Personal favourite main Gundam design will always be Wing Zero Custom (one with the feathered angel wings). Least is probably F91, I just think it looks kind of bland. It's more or less just a basic Gundam template with F91 painted on the shoulders. Maybe its because I hated the movie it was in as well that I have nothing positive I can say about it.
