What is the creepiest place on Earth?

My vote goes to Aokigahara Forest [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aokigahara_Forest].

Its an incredibly thick forest at the base of Mt. Fuji that also happens to be Japan's favorite place to kill yourself. There are tons of bodies and nooses all over the place as well as signs trying to discourage potentially suicidal people. Officials have to do sweeps for corpses to at least try and keep things under control but the forest is so big and dark that they miss some. There are many unnoticed bodies just hanging around.

So, do you think the suicides went into the forest intending to die - or are they just tourists who went in to see what all the fuss was about, and then...?

OT: I'd say the killing fields in Cambodia. Those weren't suicides. If any place has ghosts, they do.

I saw a ghost. Full contact.I was in one of the engine rooms when I saw a very reflective Gauge thing. On it I saw a reflection of a little girl in a nightgown holding a teddy bear. I was an aid on a daycare field trip so I thought it was one of the little kids I was looking after. I felt a gentle tug on my shirt and heard "DADDY?" followed by a tiny giggle. I turned around and nothing was there. I asked the tour guide and he said "Oh that's little Erika. Her father jumped off the boat and killed himself, six days later she died of pneumonia." My hair was up on end for the rest of the day. I know what I saw, felt, and heard. This is all true.

I'm fairly certain most are deliberate suicides. Although the forest is supposed to be very dark so maybe tourists or thieves got lost in there too.

Hate to say this, but /thread.

I wouldn't say that Offended is "creepy", more mindfucking and disturbing imho.

Old, creaky houses at midnight can scare the shit out of me.
Also, Pripyat, originally housing 50,000 people, now left because of radiation, completely abandoned. That's scary.

Red forest sounds like a nightmare. Imagine a forest near Pripyat (Chernobyl) where all the trees are tinted red by the mass of radiation in them, and the radiation has made some of the trees bent and twisted into weird shapes. And almost nobody lives there so the forests are empty And when I say "almost empty" I mean that the only people who still live near Chernobyl are strange old people who stay because they just don't want to leave their homes.

So to wrap up-
Big empty dark radioactive forest of deformed trees
The only people who live there are slightly mutated crazy old Ukrainians

It sounds like a damn horror movie.
