have you seen ANY of the trailers or demos? It looks amazing! Sure Bethesda may have streamlined it a bit, but I just see that as trimming the fat. In Bethesda We Trust!
Amen to that.

Here's a question for the OP:

Do you like Call of Duty? If so, can you tell me what new changes the sequels have brought?

Because if it follows the tradition of any of Bethesda's other RPGs, it will be an huge open-world RPG with hundreds of hours of gameplay, hundreds of quests, an immersive and epic plot, stunning graphics and the most important thing of all: the ability to play the way YOU choose: Do the main quest, join a faction, do quests for NPCs or wander the wilderness seeking adventure. Maybe that cave over there will hold great treasure. Maybe that Dwemer Ruin will hold clues to that long dead race.
The deal with Skyrim is that it promises to be an epic game.

OK i'm doing this what is with almost everyone liking Skyrim but i just don't get it. Not saying that it will be a bad game but really can some one give me a reason why it will be so good?

And no the reason "Because it's Skyrim" or "Because it's an Elder Scrolls game" will not count i want a real reason to buy this game because it looking very bad to me right now mainly because why people are so praising of it 3 months before it comes out.
Go to youtube and look up the roughly fourteen minute live demo (G4 has a bigger one than GameTrailers). It's narrated by Todd Howard and I think the game is good enough to ship. They either like the whole thing with 11.11.11, or they're just spending some time getting the house in order.

It's really something you have to see.

Because it's an Elder Scrolls game. Yeah, I'm actually going with that.
The last in the series, Oblivion has a massive fanbase and the most extreme Oblivion fans are the most extreme fans ever. They have played the game for thousands of hours (not exaggerating). They want to explore every part of the game in every way they can. What if they didn't turn that rock in the start? What if they broke granny Riddleton's window instead of helping her save her husband? So there's just a million things they have tested in Oblivion, and even those who aren't that extreme still loves the game. They want to find a different way to burn off maybe 100 hours on. Many thinks that Skyrim is worth it if it's even half as good as Oblivion. Even if this game turns out to suck (which it probably wont) it will still sell well because it's a franchise known for the great game from 2006.
Sure things wont be the same, no mods, more streamlined etc. In simple terms lots of complaints that rabid fans will still shout out. However most of those complaining fans probably readied their wallets when they first heard that there was a new Elder Scrolls game coming.
If Skyrim wasn't an Elder Scrolls game it would take some serious marketing to make it this anticipated. It would still look as good, have the same qualifications so it would draw a huge audience with time. It is a fantasy RPG in a huge world you get to explore to the fullest so yeah, it serves people what they want.
I am not interested in this game though, but I can see already now that this will be a success, at least when it comes to profit.

For me, it's how the game seems to play. The design of the whole thing seems to be phenomenal.

For example, I quite like the idea of having an RPG which I don't have to be restricted by a certain skill-set. In Skyrim, you get all the skills, and you level them as you please. That's a major selling-point for me.

I know that it was basically the same in Oblivion, but in Oblivion you had your primary skills and the rest were secondary, which I didn't really like very much.

Also, there will be randomly generated dragons in the game, which is pretty fucking cool as far as that sorta thing goes.
couldnt have said it better :p the biggest selling point for me... no effing oblivion gates, but free roaming dragons instead... yum!

Skyrim is going to be brilliant for so many reasons. If you'd played an Elder Scrolls game, you'd understand. Or maybe you wouldn't, but really that's okay too. What you don't do is tell people to "explain why it's good" and then argue their points every step of the way. It's counterproductive and utterly pointless, and I really don't understand why these threads still exist.

ok my first elder scrolls game was oblivion and let me tell you i fell in love with it right away. first of all, the game was HUGE and beautiful. there was soo much customization for what kinds of magic, weapons, armor, and skills allowing for a lot of varied game play. there was also a a lot of side quests and no obligation to complete the main quest right away, making it a lot more free than most games. combat was a lot of fun and could be very tactical. and finally oblivion had Patrick Stewart.

from what ive seen, Skyrim pretty much has or has improved on everything that i loved in oblivion, minus Patrick Stewart.

Obvious points aside.

It's a massive open world RPG where you can basically do whatever the hell you like.

Bathesda games are also highly versatile in that you can mod them to hell on the PC.

Anything from massive player made towns to homes and armour and weapons. People make their own quest chains, add npc's and change model skins.

Not everyone will like it, for the most part you need to be an RPG fan.

Most people here have, and they want more. Skyrim is more. We're hoping it's better too.
no but i player fallout and hated it and besides if they want more money then they should aim it at new gamers as well instead of the older ones
Oblivion was a massive seller, with something like 8-9 million copies sold. That's a ton for a non-Nintendo, non-casual shooter game.

They don't need a bigger audience.

This.
Over 300 hours of gameplay, dynamic events and basically the right to do what ever you want in the game. And you think there's something to be added? Do it! Mod the game almost endlessly and even use the creation tool to create a brand new game (if you have the skill). Play Oblivion or Morrowind if you haven't already. Then you'll see why.

By your logic we should look forward to absolutely nothing in life. All of your comments throughout this thread have outed you as either very young, or well below-average I.Q.
