I went to copy Secret World onto my porto so that my friend would not have to download it all, and I think I nearly had a god damn heart attack when I found out the damn thing is 38GB.

Which brought me to this. What is the largest game you have installed in terms of file size? And was it worth having that humongous amount of space?

For me, Secret World is worth it, especially now that it has gone to the pay once play forever model.

Currently, my largest is Planetside 2, at just under 10 gigs. Worth it? Well, considering that I have more than enough hard drive space at the moment, sure, why not?

I'm pretty sure that when I still played WoW the install was significantly larger (around 15 gigs I think), but that game seems to have a tendency of taking up more and more space the longer you have it installed.

Same as you, Secret World seems to be mine.

Although some of my games that have a ton of mods aren't far behind so my PC is looking quite full.

Shogun 2 for me as well. Ahh, nostalgia... I remember the days when a DVD size was considered huge.
Dude, I remember when games started coming out on two CDs. Otherwise, you could comfortably fit several games onto one CD, size-wise. I'm pretty sure somebody can top that up with multiple floppy disks or whatever - my point is, things have gone a lo-o-ong way.

OT: Currently biggest game installed - Heroes 6 at 9.1 GB. I'm sure I've seen even larger ones, I can't remember names at the moment, though. Skyrim, perhaps. I think the largest game I've seen in person has been in the order of 15 GB or so. But i stopped really paying attention when I got a large enough HDD to...not care about it. Every once in a while, I just have to uninstall a couple of games, and BAM I have lots of free space.

I've been amazed at how bog some of the games were. I mean, seriously amazed, not as in "Dude, I'm so old fashioned, lol" - Might and Magic Clash of Heroes was enormous. I've got no idea where all the data comes from. I think it was 3 gig or more. When I saw that I couldn't believe my eyes. For the record, Clash of Heroes is a nice little game, but it's that - little. Not really expecting much more than a gig out of it. If anybody has it installed - can you doublecheck for me, I think most of the size came from having the sounds uncompressed. I have a vague recollection of being shocked at that, though it might have not been Clash of Heroes.

Very true! I remember checking out Metal gear solid 2 review, then saw the size of the whole game, 4 gigs and had to bend down picking my lower jaw up.
I remember when Skyrim was coming out, people actually complained how "small" it was.

My WoW folder is 21.8GB, and that is without Cataclysm or Mists of Pandaria. So current players are probably looking at 30-50GB.

1) Gears of War 3
2) FNV
3) Battlefield 3

1. I'm working on Seriously 3.0 and that requires leaving your 360 on for a couple days, and the only way to keep it from catching on fire is to install the game.
2. My disc is broken and it'll crashes every 15 minutes if it's not installed.
3. FUCK EA and whoever dev'd it! It took me so long to get the first DLC, the HD, title update, and the online pass to all get to cooperate with each other and the game itself that I'm afraid to touch it. Seriously though, Skyrim's on one disc and this game can't fit all its multiplayer shit on one disc.

Man, I remember when Kotor came out on 4 discs.

Those were the days.

OT: Mine would have to be Shogun 2.

Apparently its Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, with 22.7gb

Actually Guild Wars 2 is probably bigger.

Both games probably would be worth the file size y'know, if I actually played them. I havent had the urge to play either game in quite a while.

The Sims 3. ~ 25 gigs. Though that will go up when I can afford the latest couple of expansions.

Lots of lovely mods, lots of custom content!

WoW with Cata and MoP - 23.9GB. I'll likely be getting Secret World now that there's no sub to play it so that will soon be my largest install.

Another one for Shogun 2, with The Witcher 2 coming in second at 18 Gig. Considering my crap internet only pulls down about 1 Gig an hour you might see where gaming in a digital distribution age can be frustrating, my jaw just about hit the floor and my mouse flew away from the buy button when I saw how huge RAGE was for example.

sweet jebuz 0_0. With that much extra Crysis must be an immensely lifelike VR simulation.
