Led Zeppelin, everyone should know when they formed. Im 14 and I love to listen to them, especially Jimmy's solos on his 59' Les Paul
He's a sloppy ass lead player, or rather he was. I suppose he might have gotten better.

Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, and Grieg.
Mozart is the oldest of them all, so you could really just say him. All the others are from the next musical era (including, partially, Beethoven, who helped to invent Romanticism).
Ah. I didn't know which of those was earliest. Thanks!

Title says it all.

The oldest band i listen to is Simon & Garfunkel.Formed in 1957.Now that's rather old.

So now i ask you. What is the oldest band/artist that you listen to?
I have a copy of the Livery Stable Blues by Original Dixieland Jass Band, that would be my oldest I think (about 1915-20 at somepoint)

I do have alot of older classical pieces but as they are modern orcestras playing the pieces I dont really count that.

Hmmm, Johnny Cash and Gordon Lightfoot methinks. The rest are all fairly recent musicians.

EDIT:// Correction. After going through my music inventory I found some Mozart and Beethoven. So them.

Metallica. And I will still be listening to them until I die.
Same here.
Not sure if Slayer was formed before them but regardless one of these two is the oldest I listen to.
The thrash four formed at the same time (Megadeth formed last of course), which is 1981.

Mozart probably, followed by The Who.

Bach

Awwww Yeah

The Bach-man is the deadliest thing in the world. He's like Chuck Norris, only not sickeningly overused. Plus, he never died. He had a nap...forever...UNTIL NOW

Dun Dun Duuuuuh!

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Overture 1812" As you probebly know from V for Vendetta

It's not really written in 1812, but in 1880. But that still makes it like 129 years old!

Robert Johnson (b1911 - d1938) - One of my favourite and probably the most influential blues guitarist of all time...
Amen my brother!

I think I have some Blind Willie Johnson stuff from before then. The earliest recording I have is a 1919 recording of Tiger Rag from The Original Dixieland Jazz Band.

As for when it was written I'd say the oldest that I'm actively interested in (as opposed to own a couple and putting it for the sake of arguement/credibility) is probably Vivaldi.
