Alone in the Dark Wii version. That will be the last time I will buy a game BEFORE reading the reviews!

I recently bought Warhammer 40k Space Marine for the PS3 for about ?1.50, and I still feel ripped off. Dull. As. Bricks.

I've played some pretty bad games in my time, but none have reached out and ruined other games the way Mass Effect 3 did. Also, it gave me a medical condition.

By the way, I liked the 2008 Prince of Persia.

Shadow The Hedgehog. Jesus christ what a dumpster fire.
In the same vein, mine is Sonic 06. Ironically also my favourite game series with some of my favourite games in it. Go figure.

Well, I can think of two:

-Sonic and the Secret Rings is a game I found to be unplayable due to its motion controls. I could barely get past the training stage. The reason I'm hesitant is that I didn't play it for that long, and that I actually like its story and aesthetics of the cutscene. I've often said that bad story/gameplay can be made up for by its counterpart, so this is kind of a case in point.

-Armorines: Project Swarm. This is the other end of the coin, where the gameplay functions fine, just that I find said gameplay boring, and anything approaching story being absolutely vapid.

Course, I'm sure there's worse games out there (looked up Custer's Revenge and yikes), but luckily, haven't played that many of them.

Saints Row IV.
I called Saints Row III the shark jumping moment of the series. IV is hang gliding over the shark and shitting on it as it passes by. SR4 is taking the piss out of the "Superpowered sandbox" trend that was popular for a few years thanks to Infamous and Prototype. Prototype especially since it directly rips off the glide ability just without having the blood shooting from your wrists.

Anyway, worst game I've played was James Pond Aquatic Games. Track and Field with sea creatures and impossible to beat AI. I rented it once because my mom wouldn't let me rent Primal Rage.

Ok, ok, I guess that's cheating since it's a movie licensed game. Little short pants wearing Dirty Hipsters Jr. didn't know any better though.

I guess at least it's a functional game.

I am going with The Sims. I don't even know how you can call it a "game"? It's a life simulator for people who don't have a life.

Actually, I could put these games in second place. Highly overrated. You can easily get stuck in a mission that halts any progress. Also, they have really stupid missions like going on a date.

Did you actually played that game? It makes ET look like Citizen Kane. (I actually played ET on Atari and really like the game.)

I can't think of an actual buggy game that I played. I am usually pretty good at avoiding those games.

I can't even remember the name of the game, but I remember I used to have some obscure RPG game for the PC on one of those CD's you got with a magazine. The graphics were terrible even for isometric 2D, the animations were bare-bones, the story was close to non-existant, and all I basically managed to do with it was walk around the map trying to kill stuff. Eventually I found out some enemies that I could cheese, but had OP loot on them. Which made it fun for my kid self, since I could be a 'badass' knight wrecking enemies like skeletons.

As for something more recent:
Brutal legend. I bought this back when I just started to become a metalhead. Jack black is awesome, and he fits the role of the main character perfectly. The game is about as metal as you can get. And the beginning of the game is a pretty damn fun hack and slash. But then they add the stupid part-3rd person hack'n'slash-part-strategy mess, and the game just becomes terrible. It should have just all been like how the first hour or two played...

I did. I actually owned an Atari 2600 way back in the beforetime. It was one of many cartridges I had bought cheap from a friend one day that I happened to pop in completely by accident with my 6-year old younger brother in the room. I don't think he has laughed so hard before or since.

ET was one that I never ended up playing. As far as unplayably buggy games: Daggerfall on launch. The game would routinely have you fall right through the floor.

The actual answer would probably be one of the dozens of shovel-ware pieces of crap hurled out onto the NES/SNES and the like waaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, but the only horrible game that I can remember the name of is Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind. Buggy, poorly made, poorly programmed, bad sound, awful gameplay, nonsensical map-layout... Bubsy was just all bad all the time. I was only like, 9 at the time when I played it, and even in my young, dumb state I could still recognize how god-awful the game was. Sonic 3 and Knuckles it was not.

The 3D one was technically worse, but like fuck I'd ever play that one. All the bad AAA games in the world cannot hold a candle to the sheer awfulness that is the 3D Busby game. May god have mercy upon your unfortunate soul should you ever witness its unspeakable horror.

You, my friend lived a charmed life gaming wise if that's as bad as it's ever got for you.
Some people will often connect personal distaste or their own lack of skill as signs of a game's poor quality. Makes life simpler.
GTA.

Funny you start with PoP 08, because my answer is Warrior Within. I couldn't get past the tutorial boss and had no desire to keep trying.

It actually becomes really good after that, but yeah, that Boss is the worst. And you encounter her again later on where she's even more grueling.

I was already repulsed by the change in tone from Sands of Time that I was only playing with the bare minimum of will necessary to progress. So the first minor roadblock was enough to make me just stop since I didn't want to expend any extra effort.

So scripted and boring. Might as well have played Call of Duty.
And I thought the guy that mentioned GTA lived a charmed life...
I'm think it's got more to do with Metro Last Light being part of one of the franchises B-Cell likes to suck the proverbial dick of, and Zhukov just mentioned it to get a rise out of the former. Wouldn't be the first time. Results are sometimes hilarious.

Have you played any of those?

EDIT: I mean, I played this in the 80's, but I didn't want everyone else to look like being unable to recognize what a bad game really is.

If you press the button while walking, ET runs; but instead of the farting noise, it makes a constant eardrum-ripping screech (supposedly ET's screams) that still haunts my nightmares.

Someone needs to learn the difference between "A letdown" and "Worst game EVAR"
