These forums do many wonders for me and one of my favorite is the constant talk about a game that people make my want to buy and try out. It is because of you all i got into Dark Souls. So with that being said, there are 2 games most of you keep talking about and now I am interested.

What is Bayonetta and Devil May Cry 4 (or whatever number it is at)

Bayonetta is extremely over-the-top, I guarantee that you'll laugh at some of the totally absurd and awesome things that happen. I don't want to go into too much more detail because I don't want to spoil it for you. The game dials up the "totally impossible, but awesome" scenarios to 11 and beyond, it is the wackiest game I've played by far.

The characters spout classy, cliché, and silly lines that'll make you smile.

The gameplay is excellent, nailing witch time and the proper combos can be difficult, but extremely rewarding.

I would highly recommend it!

I think the new Devil May Cry is just called DmC, and it's a reboot.
Honestly I haven't seen these games discussed that much here. Mostly people just talk about Saint's Row or Elder Scrolls.
I'd go for Bayonetta myself.

If you want to play a DMC i'd suggest you go for DMC 3, it's by far the best entry in the series. But if you are going to get the most out of it i think you have to go in to it with a very strong focus on the game mechanics. I suppose it's probably a fun romp if you just want to bash the faces of some monsters in, but it really shines when you start trying to keep your combo running and mix up your combos. When you go from just mashing with one weapon to combining the 4 you carry in to sweet flowing combos, that's when it starts getting fun for real.

As for the reboot, i don't know. It was ok i guess but after playing it once i felt i was done with it, pretty much. It wasn't as engaging and the combat didn't really offer the same kind of in-depth experience as 3, or even 4. But i suppose it was an OK game in general.

The same goes for Bayonetta, which i suppose you could see as a spiritual successor to DMC. It's all about the flowing combos and stylish combat. The game will make you laugh and keep you entertained to the end, but the same thing goes here, the more in-depth you go with the crazy stuff you can do with the combo system, the more fun you'll have with it. Can certainly recommend picking it up though, it's a great game.

Both are very fast paced and technical Hack and Slash games. Bayonetta is particular is incredibly fun and has some of the most crazy boss fights I've played.

Bayonetta is the best "stylized figther" or whatever you want to call it game I've ever played. IMO it's the best ever created.

I LOVE the Bayonetta character, the fighting is bloody amazing and it's a great game in general.
It's FUN and completely lacking restraint in the most amazing way possible.

I only played DMC 3, 4 and the new DMC, here're my thoughts on them:
DMC 3 is a very well-rounded hack 'n slash. There're tons of weapons and styles for you to choose so there's no lack of replayability. The bosses have different patterns for you to figure out and give them a beating. Vergil is one of my all-time favourite! Even God of War creator said he was inspired from this series. However, the camera is fixed at time and can be very annoying.
DMC 4 starts a bit slow, but it picks up once you unlock new moves. However, it suffers from repetitiveness because you have to complete some levels twice with two characters. It's not as good as DMC3 though.
DMC is the new Devil May Cry made by Ninja Theory (heavenly sword and Enslaved). I liked what I played. The levels are refreshing and the combos are easier to pull off. Some enemies are a bit annoying which require you to use specific weapons on them but overall the game is very adequate. It may be just me but the new Dante doesn't feel as douche as people said, he's more playful but caring at time.

Bayonetta, well, Bayonetta is the best hack 'n slash game in my opinion! It was designed by the producer who made DMC but left Capcom to create Platinum game. I love the art style, the pacing, the enemies design, the variety of weapons (although Kilgore combo is all you ever need, haha). The boss fights are so well designed and are really engaging. Jeanne is also one of my all time favourite boss ever! The switch between Normal and Hard mode is a big gap but once you overcome it, it feels so worthwhile.

Yes yes yes!! Agree completely! You can really feel the love they put into it.
I can't imagine how they could even make a sequel, Bayonetta 1 is so great already!

Both games are whats commonly reffered to as spectacle fighters. I liked earlier DMC games (I hate the newest one because of its simplified combat) and bayonetta's oversexualization makes me uncomfortable so I dont care for it.

If youre interested in spectacle fighters then theyre solid games but if you want a really really good 3rd person brawler Godhand is the best one Ive ever played

hmm, Well bayonetta should be pretty cheap at gamestop, I will definately look for a copy. I will have to look for a gameplay video for DMC.

IF you're new to the Devil May Cry series, I would recommend DmC instead of the original ones, which are balls-hard, whilst the reboot keeps thing accessible enough to new players, and challenging enough to veterans.

Why a lot of people won't recommend DmC is because of the fact that they changed Dante's character, but that's a subjective thing(and to be honest, he actually cares about non-materialistic things).

Also, some of the environments are gorgeous, and the controls are really good, even with mouse and keyboard.

Now, excuse me whilst I break out my flameshield.

Bayonetta is up there as one of my favourite games of all-time, definitely my favourite spectacle fighter. The game is absurd and ridiculous, and most importantly fun as anything. And by now, it'll be cheap as anything, so definitely pick it up. THAT'S AN ORDER!

The new DmC I'm yet to try, so I don't have an opinion on it as of yet.

Bayonetta is easily the best at what it does and blows DMC out of the water in the same way the original DMC blew up everything before it.

I wasnt a fan of the characters or supposedly cheesy lines which fell flat imo and for some reason the bosses never seemed that epic to me despite them being huge and quite interesting. Gameplay wise Bayonetta is as solid as it gets the controls are pin sharp and incredibly responsive, the game just needs to be played its amazing.

As for DMC I have only played 1 - 4 and only finished 1 and 3 as I found the other two pretty poor. Out of those 2 though the original is the better game imo it just gets so much right and the difficulty scaling is a lot better normal is normal and hard is hard and Dante must die is ridiculous while in DMC3 it seemed they had a kneejerk reaction from people complaining DMC2 was to easy and so made it arbitrarily difficult on the normal difficulty (apparently when it came over from Japan they just made the japanese hard difficulty as the new normal difficulty). Oh and I dislike Dante in everything except the original DMC game where he just seemed to work, I think its because in that game he was a happy accident and since then they have tried to riff on what they created without understanding him and as such he just seems fake and Vergils even worse.
