So I've been reading a lot of bad things about him lately and I would just like to know what is so bad about this man? I havne't seen any of his stand up lately so I don't remember much. Why do a lot of people (especially on here) hate him so?

He is horribly unfunny. Yet, somehow makes a substantial amount of money while other much funnier comedians make less than half of what he does.
Actually, his stand-up is pretty atrocious now. However, everything else he does is fairly good to excellent imo.
Though, to his credit, he did the high-energy comedian thing and that took off.

He made me piss myself laughing in "My Best Friend's Girl" but has been terminally unfunny since.
You know what one guy (you always see him at parties) that makes jokes but always goes too far with them to the point where they become cringe-worthingly unfunny? Yeah...take him, add about a decade of experience at being horribly lame, and throw lots of money, a microphone, and large venues at him.

I have seen his stand-up before. It just isn't funny. It really isn't.
It's the Twilight Effect. Dane Cook is popular despite the fact that, post-analysis, he isn't really worth the attention.

I loved his stuff when I was younger; his Price is Right bit on Just For Laughs had my sides splitting. But I gradually disliked his stuff more and more as I got older. About a year after he released 'Harmful if Swallowed', I stopped laughing completely.
However, I have a hard time understanding why people hate him so much. If you don't find him funny, don't watch/listen to him.

I find him hilarious. I actually haven't heard his latest stuff, but his older stuff I find great and hilarious. I rank him with Mitch Hedberg and Jim Gaffigan.

I stopped caring about him a long time ago. I used to get a couple laughs out of his jokes, but now I just don't find him funny.
Simple. It's fun to hate popular things. Some people love hating on popular acts simply because it makes them look non-conformist. So yeah, they try to seem like individual by jumping on the hate bandwagon. It makes sense in context I guess.crudus said:

He's obnoxious and not very funny. Family Guy summed it up in the Surfin' Bird episode pretty well.

I've only really had exposure to him from youtube videos that used audio of his stand up for anime videos, and I thought it was hilarious.

Someone once told me they hate him because he laughs at his own jokes...so? If he did something funny, that he finds funny, it may be hard to not laugh.
