what is wrong with my Xbox?

Now, my xbox 360 has a small problem, somtimes it dose not read discs. I put a disc and and it says 'reading' then it just goes 'open tray'. I try turning off and on and that works somtimes, but I would like to know what is wrong with it. Do any of you know?

The disc reader is broken. Only two soultions. 1 get a new xbox or 2 open up your xbox and fix the disc reader your self.

Happens to me time to time. I fix it by blowing inside the disc tray.
I think the laser that reads the disc might be dusty or something. I have heard that this problem leads to the RRoD but mines been doing it for a year now and it hasn't gone yet. ...Touch wood. >>

1. You disk is dirty (clean it with a soft cloth)

2. You disk is scratched (Get it fixed at your local Blockbuster, it's like 8 bucks)

3. You disk scanner may be broken or damaged (Call Microsoft and request a repair order or get it fixed at Gamestop)

4. You got Gremlins, you may want to wash your 360 down with water (Just kidding =P)

the dreaded OTE.

there's no simple way to fix it. Either get microsoft to fix it (outside of warranty it will be about 120 bucks), or go to gamestop (which I wouldn't do, but I dislike gamestop), or use the opportunity to save your pennies and buy the new slim model.

In the future, try and install every game you play to keep your drive from having to work its ass off all the time
