Ok, so, Square Enix just launched a subsidiary that does cloud computing or some crap like that.
The important thing here is that they decided to name the subsidiary "Shinra Technologies".
For those of you who didn't play Final Fantasy VII, Shinra is a technology company from that game that is basically the secondary antagonist of the game. They are primarily known for being a company that shortsightedly misuses resources to feed their own immediate greed, which ultimate results in their own destruction.
Considering the accusations over the last few years that Square has been shortsightedly running all their most valuable IP's into the ground for a quick buck I have to wonder what they are thinking with this. Are they doing some sort of self defacing humor thing? Or are they really that blind?
