What is YOUR fandom?

There are lots of fandoms floating about these days. It's not uncommon for people to have more than one and they are influenced by other people's fandoms.

What is your fandom? The one you stumbled onto on your own? You didn't see tons of topics about it on a message board, Fox News didn't do a (naturally wrong) segment on it, your friends didn't get you into it. Which fandom did you find by yourself and how did it happen?

Mine was Vinnie Veritas' CCC comics. I was procrastinating on Newgrounds watching flash vids and I found some of his CCC work, my first being Rush 2. I was instantly hooked on the idea of CCC and watched every video I could find on it. This was years back and I lost track of it until recently, when I decided to go looking for it again for a nostalgia trip. Turned out it's still going and still as fun as I remember. I was extremely glad to be welcomed back to the city of opportunities.

I guess mine would Marvel vs Capcom 3 (and its Ultimate iteration).

I was after a new fighting game, this one had Ammy in it, so why the hell not?

I spent a lot time watching tutorial vids about the mechanics, learning the terminology etc, and I still play the game online to this day.

Well, that may have been a bit easy ..... no internet when I was a lad.

Anywhooo ... fandoms.

First one is pretty obvious, massive Liverpool supporter since 1983. Used to get all excited as a sprog listening to their matches on the radio. Been a fan ever since.

Queen (the band not the person). Grew up listening to their music.

Sherlock Holmes... when I was 9 I saw one of the Jeremy Brett episodes... and then got the complete works... I always tried to see the adaptations when they were on! Loved it!

I'm not one for memory though... so I am not the type to memorise facts/figures/incidents like that... so I am not as much as a fan as some people are with things... but I do love most things with Holmes/Watson!

I have a general rule of thumb: I don't have any fandoms, because all my previous ones always make a decision that angers me.
Case in point:
Kingdom Hearts. I loved 1 and 2 (and later Birth by Sleep) but they released half of them on Gameboy/DS, meaning I couldn't play them.
Also, Monster Hunter. I got really into the series with Freedom 2 on the PSP. With the release of Freedom Unite, I was hooked. Then Capcom release Tri on the Wii, with only 18 monsters and no reasonable split-screen. Then Freedom 3, for the PSP, is never released in the West. This decision alone made me loathe Capcom.

Recently, I've realised how much I love Dark Souls, so I suppose you could count that.

OT: I'm kind of between fandoms at this point. I was a pretty hardcore Alan Moore fanboy for a while, and it was Digimon before that. I just haven't been able to get really insanely in love with anything for a while.

i kinda swap fandoms regularly... like alot....in the past few months ive been Touhou, Black★Rock Shooter, Madoka Magica, Fate/Stay Night, Skyrim, Vocaloid and I'm currently Homestuck right now..

so yeah... I'm one those people... I guess the only fandom that I stay with more than the rest would be Vocaloid...

While i found Katawa Shoujo through The Escapist, the fandom that still exists on it's forums i found sort of found by accident. Generally the KS fandom is enjoyable and can provide good conversation, though we've had kind of a troll problem for a little while. Plus, there's a moderator maintained image hosting portion of the site that for some reason tries to upload almost all of the fan-art from 4Chan, including some bizarre and disturbing shit.

Other than that though i don't associate with too many fandoms, the only one that might sort of count is that i post on a brony maintained site but am not strictly speaking a brony because i hate My Little Pony.
