Not too long ago I gave this show a shot. And it happened to be an episode with John de Lancie. I didn't hate the episode, but I think I will have to watch a few more episodes to get a good feel for it. One of the reasons for that is the network it is on. I fell in love with Dan Vs when I first watched it. Each episode of the first few made me love it more. Then it just fell apart and the humor changed to the point that it felt like a totally different show.
But I might be able to approach Friendship is Magic with a little more confidence with the support it has received in this thread.
That sounds pretty fair. I would recommend trying to find a favourite amongst the mane 6 (hah, see what I and every other fan of the show did there?), and then try and find an episode centered around them, because it helps you groove into it. But yeah, the John de Lancie episode you're describing is the one I posted. I personally think it's the best so far, but it's all opinion.
If there's anything else you want to know before trying again, let me, or some other fan know. And if you happen to not like it, that's totally cool, despite what some people might tell you. We just don't like it when people label us off the bat for liking a "kid's/girl's" show, and/or hate it in general.

Going to go with Game of Thrones for now. Although Walking Dead is coming out soon....nah its still Game of Thrones.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around people who are old enough to be posting coherently on a forum saying that 'my little pony' is their favorite show. It makes me laugh and cringe at the same time. I do enjoy Adventure Time every once in a while, however. That cartoon has some pretty crazy hidden meanings sometimes.
I tried to watch Adventure Time, but the aesthetic didn't do it for me. Everything was very sharp lined, and the designs were a bit over the barrel in terms of cartoonish stylization (for me, I might be spoiled by preference). If you're wondering, one of the big attractions to MLP is how it doesn't really try and have hidden meanings. Many describe it as "a relaxing break from seriousness and complexity"... or something to that affect. I'd say give it a shot if you haven't already, but you're not under obligation, that's just the response fans give when someone doesn't understand... because, quite frankly, it's the easiest way to try and get people to understand.

Seriously? 50 million recommendations for MLP, an annoying, sickeningly saccharine, formulaic kid's show who's only saving grace is kinda clever characters and classic Looney Tunes slapstick...and only one other person besides me mentioning MYTHBUSTERS, the greatest TV show ever to exist!?
My disappoint-o-meter just exploded.
Hey, I love Mythbusters, but I'll be honest, I don't watch a lot of TV on the actual TV, so I wasn't aware the show was still going. As for MLP, you sound like the kind of guy who's seen an episode or two and just didn't like it, so that's alright. Some people can't get over the pink and simplicity of it. I'd disagree with your opinion, but I kinda can't, because it's an opinion, and you're totally entitled to it. I feel bad the show didn't do it for ya, bud.
