There's two breeds of dogs that happen to be my absolute favorites. The first (but not what I have now) would be the Akita.
(see also: Hachiko)
The second (and what graces my house now, and has for the last year and a half) is the American Akita.
Commonly confused with each other, and I'll not go into why they're different from one another other than to say the American Akita is larger than it's Akita-Inu cousin.
My own is incredibly intelligent, and full of energy. He is however, borderline OCD when it comes to toys that he wants. It's fun watching him destroy an 'indestructible' toy, then taking out the squeaker, and hiding it, along with my hand, and watching him go nuts trying to get it. Friendly, and only barks at certain people. He's very selective about who/what he barks at. Otherwise, he's a quiet dog.
The thing I love most about my dog is walking down the street with him, the reactions of the people. They go from 'what a cute dog, what kind is he?' to 'keep that monster away from me' (only heard that one once, on a public street, from a guy running with his wife in matching clothes). Under normal circumstances, I usually have to educate anyone that approaches us in how to pet him. Fortunately, I've trained him well enough to know that a petting on the top of his head is NOT a threat (to an Akita, it is).
I freaking love bulldogs. their weird little faces are so cute and i adore fat looking dogs.
also, giant schnauzers look so dignified with that handlebar facial hair situation and I want one so I can name him Allistair the third.
as a rule, I generally like larger sized dogs and I, of course, own a morkie who weighs 4 pounds.
Whatever my dog is. Her previous owner said that she's a bichon fris, but she doesn't really look like those. She looks like a small beagle with a lot more white fur. She's probably one of the most docile creatures on Earth. She loves to play even though she's getting older (10). She also only barks when she wants back in the house and even then, it's just a soft yip.
So ya, no idea what she is, but whatever odd mix she is, it's my favourite.
Also, I generally prefer smaller dogs since the bigger ones usually shed a lot.
Welsh Corgi ! We had one for 6 years. His master had to go to work in China and he needed a family to keep him. He was already 9 years old. In the end, his master never came back, he got work in Korea and we had to keep him and we were very happy about that. When he passed away, it was extremely hard for everybody because he was such a unique dog.
My parents have a big golden retreiver. Hes such a character and so friendly
Im a huge fan of dogs (mainly big dogs) but im not too keen on cats. I like most dogs but I like Jack russell terriers (probably the only little dog I like), german shepards, huskies and labradors/retrievers
Another shout here for Border Collies. We've had Collies in my family for as long as I can remember and they really are shockingly intelligent. Well, not that shocking given that they've been bred as working dogs for centuries, but still.
While not an official breed, I've grown quite fond of Chiwieners. My father has one that is adorable to the point of being obscene.......both in looks and personality.
When it comes to actual breeds.....you can never go wrong with a corgi or a mini-dach.
I love the big and beautiful Leonberger. Just picture a Newfoundland but with a brown/ sable coat. Gorgeous. A close second comes the English Cocker Spaniel.
Prefer larger dogs but some of the smaller breeds are painfully cute. I also recently saw a Husky cross with a Corgi and nearly died from the cute.
Pitbulls are illegal in the UK because sadly people were using them as attack dogs. Its a shame really because they can be nice dogs just a shame the owners are dickd
