What is Your Favorite Movie or Film?

I know this is very broad. The way I see it, it's very difficult to name one particular film to be #1, but if I were to name my favorite film it would have to Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove. I find the dark comedy, setting, and writing to be some of the greatest work ever completed by man. And the star-studded cast that includes Peter Sellers (triple casted), George C. Scott, and Slim Pickens doesn't hurt either. Others of mine that are contenders would be Evil Dead II, Pulp Ficiton, Fargo, Punch-Drunk Love (or anything P.T. Anderson), A Serious Man, and Dawn of the Dead (the original), along with so many others.

[Edit]
For those asking, I consider films to be much more formal, have a message, and require serious thinking to understand what's going on or behind the scenes. Whereas movies are easily approachable and can be enjoyed by anyone and don't necessarily have a serious message to give. A more recent example of a film would be District 9, and a more recent example of a movie would be the Hangover.

Well, since I'm currently obsessed with it, Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22. Such a lovely movie...

Aside from that though, Donnie Darko is one of my all time favorite movies. I've seen that more than 5 times methinks.

Is there a difference between movie and film?

OT: The original Star Wars trilogy, more specifically a tie between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. There has never been and will never be a better film.

You have fantastic taste in movies - That'd definitely be a contender for my top movie, as would Kubrick's 2001. Honestly, though, I've seen so many movies and loved so many of them that picking a number 1 is practically impossible.

I can't give my 1 favorite, but it's either:
The Godfather, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Lion King, Moon or Day of the Dead

Dogma. Seriously, it's my favorite movie ever.

Although Cowboy Bebop the Movie: Knocking on Heaven's Door takes a VERY close second.

American Beauty.

The angst the movie builds is incredible. The portrayal of the seemingly normal suburban individual as empty shells who laugh at awkward moments despite the terrible tragedy that is their lives is the most brilliant subtext I've ever come across. Kevin Spacey's monotonous narration along side the strangely upbeat, yet depressing piano and xylophone scores by composer Thomas Newman set an atmosphere of a crushing existence on its last breath to redeem itself. You become so aware of your life. You truly ask yourself if you are happy - if you have actually lived a life you would not consider phony.

It's either The Italian Job, Wallace and Gromit in: The Wrong Trousers or Loaded Weapon 1.

Not necessarily the best films ever made (although Loaded Weapon 1 is pretty much perfect in my eyes), but they are simply my favourites.

Yeah... this is a very strange selection. I am a nostalgic bastard.

Oldboy. No movie will ever EVER touch it. I've seen it five times or so and I'm still fascinated by it.

If you haven't seen Oldboy you don't know a real plottwist!

The Vengeance Trilogy.
Which consist of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Three great Korean movies.

Also, Pulp Fiction, Pan's Labyrinth, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Dr. Strangelove, Fight Club, and a bunch of other movies I can't remember at the moment.

Gone in 60 Seconds, hands down. Coolness, fun, action and a literal boatload of orgasmically beautiful cars, all rolled together into one awesome package. And that's coming from someone who doesn't even care for cars all that much.
Also, it probably helps that in my opinion Nicholas Cage rocks everyone and their mom, and the rest of the cast isnt bad either.

"Aliens".

Hands down, the best movie ever made of all time. "AVATAR" has nothing to it (and I like Avatar, but Aliens is James Cameron's best).

I couldn't possibly give you an answer to that question, My favourites change on a daily basis considering my mood and upcoming events etc.

For example near the start of a new football season I love watcching Any Given Sunday, really gets me into the mood for upcoming games.

But I suppose if you want a real answer I would have to say my favourite is Twilight!

No seriously!

Oh ok I was joking, it is shockingly bad!
