Flaming Lips- Do you Realize?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zYOKFjpm9s <--- If you wanna listen ( sorry I don't know how to post videos :p )
The song is pretty much on the bright, I know, side but the "everyone you know someday will die" thing always gets me.

I say this every time. Guarantees, by Atmosphere. Totally depressing, but oddly profound too.

No one will listen to this probably, they just want to post their own songs like me. But hopefully one of these days somebody will listen to this and actually be moved by my offering.
Yay, an Atmosphere fan. I agree with the song choice too, although he has made a lot songs that are quite sad, like Painting, Woman With the Tattooed Hands, Little Man, Always Coming Back Home to You etc, so it's quite hard to just pick one for me.

As for my choice, I fucking love sad songs, so I can't possibly pick my favourite one. I'll just post a handful of some of my favourites..

Sean Paul's "Never Gonna Be the Same"

Every time I hear it, all I can think about is the important people in my life who have had to go, and how much I miss them... :(

Für Elise by Beethoven - granted it's a composition not a song.

Was also going to mention the triumphant by Royskopp but this is a composition too. Maybe I can't get into sad songs?!

Entombment of a machine by Job For a Cowboy.
The song is really heavy and is really hard to understand, but after reading the lyrics, it's about seeing a machine that used to be alive, and it's about the lead singer seeing his father dying in the hospital hooked up to so many machines that he didn't look alive anymore.

Autumn's Child [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJtxtCm0T2o] by Devendra Banhart. It's just a man and his piano, but the quality of his voice gives it a special charm of it's own. It's sad, but it's not one-sidedly depressive, with just a small spark of hope, which makes it perfect for sad moments, I think.

Lilium from Elfen Lied, Dearly Beloved and Missing You from the Kingdom Hearts sountrack, and all of the softer songs from the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack.

As for song songs with bands and everything, I'd go with Crown of Love by Arcade Fire, Exogenesis Symphony Part 3: Redemption by Muse, and some bits in Bohemian Rhapsody are kinda sad too I guess. That's all I can think of I guess.

Easy:

This is live, but it's so awesome, so chilled out, yet so perfect... Wow.

Imagine this: you're moshing, jumping and screaming, then this starts and the whole room falls silent. You should've been there...

Creep by Radiohead. Speaking of which, has anyone seen the trailer for the Social Network that had a version of Creep that was like a choir version of it? I saw it when I went to go see Inception and it sent chills down my spine. (The trailer is here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46GZavjBAC4&feature=related] if you wanted to see it.)
