My choice is the Chimera:
Sure, it has it's flaws. It relies on absorbing damage in it's shield layer (versus armor, which is the standard for most of the popular PVP ships) meaning you aren't quite as welcome in a major fleet operation as other carriers for example. But when you can get a group of ships that shield tank, this thing is a beast. It is one of the few Caldari vessels that is symmetrical (it always annoys me that they weren't). Like other carriers, it can deliver a up to ten fighters to a battle (each of which packs as much firepower as a throwaway cruiser!) and can, by itself, sustain staggering damage all while keeping other ships in the fight. In certain circumstances, it can move into a special logistics mode where it becomes immune to all forms of electronic warfare and while immobile (the damning flaw of the logistics module) it allows the carrier to completely repair a battleship in seconds (commonly used in smaller battles where the carrier is located away from the front lines).
It can transport other player ships long distances (though not a lot of them - a few mining barges, a battleship or a half dozen smaller vessels), it can allow them to change fittings without the use of a station and it looks damn sexy. The downside is that it, like any capital ship, is a damn bullet magnet and as such you must always stay in a group whenever possible. It's defenses are tough but easily breached and it's firepower, while considerable, is easily dealt with when you have no support yourself.
