I quite like the Killzone series, when talking about more modern games.

As for older ones, well... Homeworld, for one. Dawn of War as well. The X-Wing series. X-Com. Close Combat. And a hell of a lot of others.

Oh, and anything "Tom Clancy's _______". :)
what is the killzone series about?
Space Nazis.
sounds awesome thanks for the recomendation i might pick then up

In no real order: Kingdom Hearts, Jax and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, .hack//G.U, Final Fantasy (excluding 11,13 and 14). Thats most of my favourite series. I love KoA but until a sequel or something else come out under that name you can't really call it a series yet.

Thief. You're Garrett, a master thief living in a steampunk-inspired place called The City that is filled with warring factions and greedy policeman all vying for power. It's a first person stealth game with excellent mechanics based on light and sound. As long as you stay in the dark and avoid loud surfaces, you can sneak passed the guards and get the loot you're looking for. You have complete freedom within each level to achieve your objectives (unless those objectives include not alarming or killing anyone, which they often do).

The second game is the best, and the third has some problems, but is still definitely worth playing.

Because stuff. I really can't be bothered doing the whole fan wank routine.
My list is quite similar, only add Dragon Age: Origins. Good games, they are all.

Favourite series: The Phoenix Wright Trilogy (Apollo Justice wasn't that great)

Baist gaem evar: Persona 4, the only other Persona i've played was Persona 3 FES (far inferior to 4 imo) so i can't really say best series though i'd buy a PS3 just for Persona 5 if they'd hurry up and finish it.

Fallout, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Monster Hunter, and Metal Gear.

Everything else comes second best, I love those five.

Carmageddon (first 2 pc games and maybe the one for psx) I can't recommend the other 3 (not counting Re-incarnation). Otherwise the Metroid series, although I personally don't like Other M.

Mine would have to be Prince of Persia (Sands of time, Warrior within, Two thrones) and Uncharted.

I love me some platformers.

I'm a huge fan of the .hack G.U. games. When I think about it i'm not entirely sure why though, the gameplay pretty much boils down to press X until everything is dead. The story is really the best thing about them, and a damn good story it is too. At least in my opinion anyway, every occurrence left me wondering what would happen next and then blow my mind when my theories were no where near correct.

The graphics are pretty good too, I could spend hours in the Lost Grounds just staring at the scenery.

Baldur's Gate. Simply the most intellectual, character driven, epic, tactical, engrossing RPG series EVER MADE.
This, hands down. The first one is kind of brutal and takes a while before you can stop hiding from every woodland creature that looks your way, but well worth it. Just don't rush through it, it's something you need to take time for and enjoy.
