Followed by Red Alert: C&C2 Yuri's Revenge: "Scorched Earth".

I have too many to count, but I would have to say the sound of the Quake 3/Quake Live shotgun
being fired.

Hah, I'm not ashamed to admit I know where that quote is from :D

The orgasmic announcer was pretty fun too :D

Try this with the speakers turned up, suddenly it turns into "YOUR FOUND CARD WORKF PERFECTLY."

Now that is awesome :D

I really can't think of one. I know what my LEAST favorite would be, though, the sound you get when you use the action key in HL2 and there's nothing there, or when you use the gravity gun on an unvalid target. ARGH.

"STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!"

I can't think of anything better than that. Or...Hmm...

"My blood cries out for the vengeance of my people's blood! Which can only be repaid with at least twice as much blood! Or maybe three times as much blood! Like, if you went to hell, and it was full of blood and that blood was on fire and it was raining blood! Then maybe that would be enough blood!...Then again, maybe not."

The ZHOOP sound made when being teleported by Viki in Suikoden 2. My family still uses it as a slang term for teleporting.

A second runner up would be the level up Ding from Everquest 1. When I played it at release it was so challenging to level up that my heart still speeds up a bit when I hear that sound effect.

To me it's the chest openning sound from Legend of Zelda. Sure I got a few more favourite sound effects but that is the most memorable (stuck in my head).
That's my phone's ringtone whenever I get a text message. Makes me smile every time.

I have to say, the victory fanfare from Final Fantasy X always makes me feel accomplished, if that counts.

Immediately, two things came to mind.

1. Shun-Goku-Satsu "ping!" noise from Street Fighter

2. The sound made when finally hitting your mark during the mining minigame in Final Fantasy XIV

...I couldn't find it on video, but basically, it's a sound like a mining pick striking rock, but it's a really meaty CRNGZCK sound when you hit what you're aiming for, and it's so damn satisfying.

The charge-up and discharge of the tesla coils in C&C:Red Alert. Closely followed by the screams of the infantry caught by them, especially attack dogs.
I came here with a different one, but now I'm changing my vote to that! Thanks for reminding me of it.

Original response: the first that come to mind are either the squelching sound that oranges make when you slice them in Fruit Ninja or the sound of a portal opening on a wall in, well, Portal of course.

The sound of shooting the rocket launcher in the original doom/doom2... And the ensuing exploded corpse and sound it makes. Classic.
