It involves being tied and bound in the shape of a piece of furniture. Hence the term. Imagine someone tied on their hands and knees in a manner that leaves their back flat - then using them for a table or footrest. The really sadistic parts come in when you do the binding in such a way that staying flat is either uncomfortable, or requires constant focus. You would then prevent them from maintaining that focus.

There's a subset of it that's more prevalent in Japan that involves laying a meal out on someone's body as though they were a table or counter. Not quite the same but related, in using the sub as an object to be manipulated rather than a person. Some people quite like the dehumanization of it.
