Hmm... off the top of my head, I'll list a few.

Final Fantasy VII*
Halo**

*I enjoyed the combat system, the Materia, and the music. Everything else was poorly executed, the translation was awful (and from what I understand the original script wasn't much better) and full of holes, and they should have dropped the Aeris character if they wanted to replace her with Tifa, not come up with her midway through and try to juggle both characters. The only FFs to effectively kill off main characters were 4 and 5, because 4 was building up to it for the first half of the game, and in 5 it was to safe the life of a loved one who'd replace them. They worked well, and didn't come off as a trite "act of god" to shock the player. And considering her death served no purpose, it shouldn't have happened anyways. Oh, and since I was in high school when this came out, a friend of mine kept bringing Tifa fanfics and fanart to class and shoving them in my face. Most of it was vulgar, ugly, or just plain bad.

**I was told time and again that Halo would be this awesome game with an epic storyline and great gameplay. Well, imagine my disappointment when I learned most of the storyline was in books and the gameplay was sub-par. I don't play games for multiplayer so don't shove that crap in my face, either. It was a huge let down for me after friends constantly told me how great it was. Thank gods I only paid 10 bucks for the PC version.

All the non-WW2 Call of Duty games. They're just not deep. At all. Even some of the WW2 ones aren't all that great either. I still don't see what all the hype is about. To all of you who said the same thing, HI FIVES!!! ^5

Team Fortress 2. I just don't get the appeal. Partly to do with the stylisation, partly to do with the class based combat, partly to do with the MMO-esque loot / equip mechanics now making the whole thing much more unfriendly to anyone who has been outside of the community for some time.
You know they're all side-grades right? I can only think of one item that's a direct upgrade, and that's the Degreaser, and that's only if you have a specific item, otherwise it's still just a straight up side-grade. They really just provide you with different play styles, not better stats.
I'm guessing a "side-grade" is an "upgrade that is so barely noticeable that it barely constitutes as being called such". But that's the point. ANY form of increased stat is still changing the meta-game, no matter how major or minor. And given some of the crazy weapons i've seen like "instant crit if you hit someone in the back", i'd say those side-grades as you call them are pretty impacting against someone who is walking into the fray naked. It might just provide a different playstyle, but at the end of the day you still have to earn the 'right' to play with that playstyle. You're not just given these weapons and items (or are you?). If you were, it would be more balanced.
No a side-grade is different stats. Not better stats. For instance, the Sydney Sleeper, an alternative to the normal Sniper, has a faster charge rate and puts a Jarate effect on enemies it hits, but can't get headshots.

As for your "crits from behind" example, that's the Backburner, which has the drawback of having more expensive airblasts, which are one of the main points of the Pyro.

And on the subject of getting these items, the original class-packs can be obtained by completing achievements. Plus you can get all the items by random drops, trading with other players, and just straight out buying them. So it's fairly easy to get any of the items. Hell, you can just leave the game on over night on an idle server to just get a bunch of random drops without even playing.

Your argument basically stems for a perceived notion that the new items are better than the basic loadout, which is simply not true. You'll find a large number of Scouts prefer the original Scattergun over any of the other guns.

Twillight Princes is the only thing that comes to mind. It's not bad, but just so.... passable. The gameplay is basically half-assedly waggling the wiimote around 3 centimeters left then 3 centimeters right etc. Almost every time you get a new item it's only usefull in the same damn dungeon you found it in, you never need it again. That damn item stays in your inventory forever being competely useless. Another random pick out of my complaint box is those hideous repulsive chicken-man things. There's so much build up to the "legendary sky people", who were created by God himself and then created the Humans, couldn't wait to see them...... aaaaand they're hideous little chicken-man things.... yay. That was probably the joke, but no sir, I did not appreciate it.

Call of Duty and every game like it. I have no idea why anyone even bothers with the ripoffs.

Ironically enough, the "instant crit upon back hit" is the least used weapon in tf2.

And the game is already pretty well balanced. A skilled player with a vanilla setup going against an equally skilled player with the sidegrades is neither advantaged nor disadvantaged.

The weapons are meant to compliment playstyles and strategies, but they never give an outright edge to the player who has them.

Yes a 2D game that's centered around exploration, killing bosses, and collecting better gear is exactly like Minecraft. There is very little creative building in this game, so the one similarity I can see is that both games have crafting.

OT: Valkyria Chronicles, everyone told me it's the best RPG on the Playstation 3. But the game itself was so boring, I could care less about the characters, and I didn't really feel the mix of TBS and Third Person Shooter worked well.

You shouldn't have to leave something on overnight or acquire it with real money. If it was truly fair, it would be made available to everybody from the get-go, with only vanity items being grindable / purchasable.

Obviously the new items have some sort of significant impact on the meta-game and are seen as being beneficial and superior to the old loadout, otherwise people wouldn't focus so heavily on grinding them out. I don't think it's just a matter of finding that one playstyle that makes your giblets tickle. I played a couple of games of TF2 a while back and got absolutely creamed in all of them. I noted they all had fancy guns with all those side grade effects. I also noticed that before these items got introduced, i didn't have anywhere near as much trouble being even remotely useful as i do now. This leads me to put two and two together - the new items have created imbalance that has left me and others like me in a disadvantaged situation until we eventually managed to crawl ourselves back up to the level of the community by going through the same ridiculous grind for achievements and weapons that is unironically reminiscent of an MMO.

I wish it did, I bought it because I had read that it was like a 2D Minecraft. It's more like a really bad platform game where you can build if you have the patience. Last I checked (and it's been a few weeks) the game had no pause and the resolution was only 800x600. Pause has been standard since atleast 1985 (Super Mario Bros. on the NES) and how long ago was it that most PC users ran 800x600?

It's definitely Call of Duty. After MW it lost the appeal and started becoming the same game with updated graphics.

Can't you see that they're two entirely different games with the only similar aspect being the mining?

And even if they are similar, what the hell's the problem with that? I've found Terraria much more fun to play because you have a much larger incentive. It's a much more scripted game with multiple different enemies, unique environments, and rather refreshing RPG elements. Terraria has just as many new innovations to offer as Minecraft did.

This is the stupidest complaint to not like a game.
