Wasn't really sure whether this one was done, but if it was, it may not be relevant to now as you may have different jobs etc.

I just got an apprenticeship for a patisserie chef, as well as being a university student, and was just wondering, what is your profession and how did you decide that is what you wanted to do?

I am an Associate Customer Communications Specialist for a Health Insurance Company.

It paid more than when I was a Medical Assistant at a doctor's office, and I knew I couldn't work at that job anymore as I was unhappy there and was treated like crap from my boss. I am a much happier person since I left.

But it's not what I plan to do for the rest of my life. I'll no doubt have to find a new profession once I move to the UK.

Right now I'm employed at my food service job at my university for a main source of income, but ive begun to apprentice with my old teacher on field work to build up experience so I can apply to a CRM company and do Archaeology full time.

I sort of stumbled into it, as most Archaeologists do. It requires A LOT of tedious work and you have to like being exposed to the elements on a regular basis. But damn I love being outside digging through the soil and finding things people left behind.

Currently looking for a job more or less just so that it seems like I'm not doing nothing.
In reality, I have enough money saved up that, barring unexpected giant monetary requirements, I think I've got more than enough for my roommate and I to live off of for a year or so, and thus I'm in waaaay less of a hurry to find a job than I actually should be... <_<

Until recently I was an employee of Jersey Mike's Subs until I quit because A. I hated that job and B. The amount of hours they gave me were so low it literally wasn't worth the gas it took to drive to and from there each shift

Right now I'm a full time student.

However, thanks to gaining some internet fame with my webcomics, I call myself a "Cartoonist" and with my new series iPod Interviews, I'm also gonna start adding "Game Reviewer" to my list of jobs with quotation marks around them.

I'm in school to get a degree in Film and Television and I'd love to write for TV one day, but I work on my comics as both a hobby and sort of a plan B. I do it because I love entertaining my fans, and the fact that I even have fans makes me feel like I'm slowly getting myself onto the right track. I'm launching a new series this November that could very well end up being my full time job in several years.

Aside from that though, I'm always looking for part time jobs to scrape up some extra cash.

I do two jobs at a University.

One is part of the Audio Visual Group who deal with the equipment in the lecture theatres. Currently undergoing a "crunch time" as some of the rooms we were to upgrade haven't been finished yet.

The other is at the print shop, where I sell course readings to students and print off their work.

Actually, busking is one of two things that came up on a test at school that was supposed to determine our life's professions. The other was 'Chinese Herbalist.'

I believe that I made the correct decision.

Armed security, though my future in said profession is shaky at the moment due to medical concerns rising from injuries I received during military service. The VA is being nice and slow about getting that sorted out...
They did recently xray me to confirm I have no chunks of metal floating around in me. Turns out I don't, which is a surprise.

I'm in sales for a major rental and credit company at the moment. Retail and Customer service is pretty much my chosen career path at the moment, as I really enjoy it, but I'd quite like to get out of face to face service.

I'm an independent game developer. Or at least, getting there. I have no games under my belt, but I do have one about 15% through planning/production, which I'm doing entirely by myself so far. I'm still in college for 2 more years so we'll see how things work out. My main emphasis is going to be on art and design, so likely modeling or concept art if I get work at a studio.

Currently a student, but I'm one year away from a Materials Engineering degree. Given my specialization, I'll probably end up working for a government lab within DARPA or the Department of the Navy.

I work nights at a some-what local Target (same county but about a half-hour drive away) as part of the flow team. My job is basically to help unload the trucks and, push product onto the shelves in the store part of the store. I have a bit of training in back-stocking but luckily, that isn't my primary job. I started in a store in GA where the pay and hours were a bit fewer but there I would take a day or two every so many weeks behind the cash register. Not so much here though, where I start as the store is closing and am finished a couple of hours before the store opens back up. The job fits my sleep schedule.

I also draw up comics but until I get some better software (and possibly upgrade my PC in general...and a hard drive wouldn't hurt) I can't really produce enough comics/drawings to make much of a name for myself (except for the fetish stuff I draw which doesn't earn me money but which has earned me over 15,000+ hits on Deviantart...I'd love a dollar each from all of those guys and, gals...)
