Insert stereotype here- long time watcher, "first" time poster. Since I'm new here, I wanted to check the pulse of the Escapist; so I was wondering - why do you all choose to spend your time here on the Escapist Forum?

My personal reason is that while I watched Zero Punctuation from the beginning, I didn't join for years because of apathy. Yesterday though, I saw a topic I wanted to respond to, and so I joined to respond to it. I'm staying because now I'm curios about how the whole "Forum" thing will go.

So what about you?

Boredom and the news mostly.

There are three forums I log on. This one, rarely, RPG Codex to lurk and one for an indie text game where I occasionally write stuff in. It kills time at work.

<url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/2-50-Reviews>Well, I write the occasional review.

I stick around because of boredom, and because it takes less energy/time to load the forums up than a game/movie (this is important when I'm working on a project that's due tomorrow, for example).

The news is usually pretty interesting, and I really only go here when I'm bored, usually at school during spares or in Comp-Sci when I've finished everything.

I like the community here and the longer I stay the more I get dragged down to the various areas of the escapist until now I'm almost everywhere >.>

That and I have nothing else to do with my time.

Because you won't let me leave! Please just let me out of the basement I won't do it again I'll be a good boy, I promise.

All Joking aside I found this place when an old classmate from my college introduced me and a few others to Zero Punction. I decided to lurk for a few years before joining in 2009. I've been addicted ever since.

- News, I get a lot of news from here
- Zero Punctuation
- Having the occasional diverting discussion
- The Halo Fans Usergroup
- Laughing at elitists

That's it, I think.

When I want to see an intelligent forum, I come here. Intelligent forums are a rarity these days. I also come on here to watch ZP and Jimquisition.

I like the site.
People on the forums here seem somewhat brighter than the inbred mutants on most of the other forums I have stumbled across.
I am a house husband in Northern Canada, what the hell else do I have to do with my time?

Excluding the groups and RP I with and the interest news and videos, the forum topics intrigue me to post my opinion of the topic. While I have already gotten the Neo badge, I would like to get my posts count over 100000. Also it's the fact that I have alot of free time and no new games to play to pass the time.

You know, I really don't know. Masochism I suppose since all the senseless whining of all the spoiled self-entitled dipshits threatens to drive me batty. Not that it'd be any different anywhere else I guess.

I always loved the web series on the site and one day I just saw a topic on the forums and thought "eh, I'll say something about that" and I'm still adding my odd bit of opinion from time to time. That's about it really. No great revelations here.

The thing most likely to make me LEAVE the forums here is that it feels kinda weird to be posting regualrly on a site that seems to be almost entirely the province of people young enough to be my kids!

Boredom, I really like the community; I've met a lot of members and I'd class them as good friends. I think this site is like crack.
