I think that one dates back to medieval times. The penalty for stealing sheep was death, but the penalty for bestiality was a small fine. So obviously, anyone caught with someone else's sheep would claim to have been shagging it. You're not sheep shaggers, you're really bad thieves and really good liarsAgow95 said:We welsh people have an unfortunate infamy for being "sheep-shaggers", that is the literal term the English use for welsh people.
Is that all you can think of hmmm?Creator002 said:Are there any embarrassing stereotypes for Australians? All the ones I can think of are slang (embarrassing when others use it due to the words being out of use or used incorrectly), living a Steve Irwan/Crocodile Dundee life (complimentary in most respects)and riding one of our national animals (which would be awesome if they didn't tear your intestines out).

The captcha not earning enough money?[footnote]Oops. Realised that could be seen as taking a stab at ads or the like. I meant the captcha as an actual living entity making money. Not The Escapist itself.[/footnote] It's started teaching. Not very well though. You're not supposed to tell me France gave the US the Statue of Liberty after asking the question.
Dirty, pot-smoking hippies, maybe? I don't know, I've only really been to Boulder.Pebkio said:America is the joke.
Buh-dum-tish.
Y'know... I don't know my state's stereotypes. Quick, someone tell me why we Coloradans suck.
Hahahaha. I forgot all about that. That's excellent.SpAc3man said:
Huh. I knew that the stereotype is that we're big on beer, barbecues (or BBQs) and beaches, but not obsessed bums about them. Learn something new everyday.ClockworkPenguin said:Well.. there is the one where you're all beer swigging barbecue obsessed beach bums.
'Beach-bums' is the term my (Australian) Granddad uses to describe the people who spend all their time surfing and wont get a job.Creator002 said:Hahahaha. I forgot all about that. That's excellent.SpAc3man said:

What part of Quebec are you from? I'm considering going to stay in Montreal during my studies in a couple of years time (if it's possible) and maybe even moving permanently out of the UK, possibly even to somewhere like Montreal where I can experience somewhere new but still stay in touch with the two original aspects of my culture.Psykoma said:Quebec: Free loading french separatists.
Not going to lie, for a lot of us, the above is true.
But I prefer to speak english if I have a choice, I'm firmly for Canada, and I'm working while going through an accounting designation program.
Outside montreal you could feel safe in betting that everyone you meet will be one of the above described Quebecers.
I should know this actually cos my Mum lived in Quebec for a bit.
LOL I feel your pain; sadly its partly true.Fappy said:I totally feel you on this one. What's New York State?!?!sextus the crazy said:New York:

This. I also often hear us referred to as the "bible belt" of Canada.ErwinGodfrey said:Alberta is often considered the Texas of Canada, and that designation often brings with it the negative stereotypes associated with that US state.
