Honorverse

Sure the physics are nutty, but its internally consistent and has good characters.

Lovecrafts 1920s/1930s. It's so profoundly messed up and it inspired modern pop culture in more ways than people readily know.

i would have to agree with the originator of this thread and go with the universe from the Hitchhikers Guide. Maybe its because i just reread it for the 3rd time so its fresh but its just such a diverse universe. Whatever your personality or interest there is most likely a world out there that suits you...or you can just wander the universe with need of little more than a towel. Plus, with the proper distraction you can fly which would be quite fun.

It would easily be the Discworld, where common sense, intuition, and narrative convention take precedence over the laws of physics, and where magic may be real, but is also awfully touchy.

I would say the lands from Jordan's Wheel of Time.

But, honestly, the first thing to pop into my head was Piers Anthony's land of Xanth from the series of novels that I read from 4th grade until 7th grade. 13 books, all told... (though I know more were published before I'd moved to Asimov, Zelazny, and other more mature reading) A world where magic rules, but is almost predominantly governed by childish puns and clever turns of phrase.

Final Fantasy VII because I'm a humongous fangirl. That or Azeroth from World of Warcraft. Again...fangirl.

*dreams of making tea for Vincent Valentine or riding a dragonhawk*

I'm gonna go with 40k, because I've been raised on it, and also...They've released...Like a thousand books over the last 15 years. So much awesomeness to take place in it!

Look that and tell me that isn't a '/thread' right there.

Also, damn you Escapist for making me use your inferior, colonial spelling of "Centre"

Why not do both? It may be awkward, but it's two birds with one stone!

Final Fantasy VII!! Or even FF8, I'm not fussy.
Although I admit living in the Dresdenverse would be amazing. I chose the wizard side.
