Listening to Heavy Metal. And to a small extent I'm comforted by the knowledge that TEE will all be over soon...

I'm not sure I'm entirely sane anymore, but the thing that stops me from being completely batshit crazy I guess would be videogames.

I live alone, I don't watch TV, don't listen to political pundits and/or talk radio, and I've got a light at the end of the tunnel---in 613 days I'm moving home to Boston to start my life for real (yes kids, you too can be in your mid-thirties and finally figure out what you want to be when you grow up!)

Every married woman I went to high school with wants to set me up with her single friends when I get back home, too! My friend Louise, a schoolteacher, says "I bet my younger, gorgeous coworkers would love a guy like you!"

So that's what keeps me sane. If I felt like I was gonna be stuck in Reno for the rest of my life working shitty call center or casino jobs, I'd have killed myself...and people wouldn't be like "how could he do that?!", they'd be more like "least surprising news I've ever heard." This place is nicer in Fallout 2.
Sounds awesome man, much luck

OP: My friends and family. And a tad unhealthy dose of escapism.

I would never go over the border but when I see common sense prevail it makes me very happy. Also, I enjoy criticising garbage, does me great justice.

Gluttony.

Seriously, nothing keeps me as kalm as acup of coffee or something ice cold.

I mioght be in trouble when I stop growing, because now it's impossible for me to get fat and all I do is play hockey.

My international friends. I used to be a real mess before I started taking part in this organization through which I got to do an exchange and continue meeting people around the world even after getting back home. I love them and became a lot happier person thanks to them.

Pretty much my optimism. If I wasn't so happy and thinking positively, I'd be a very violent person.
optimism is a good one for getting me along. that and the promise of juicy undead goodness at the end of exams :D

It's mainly metal that helps me unwind. If I didn't discover the guitar and it's soothing qualities, I would've ended up a lot more messed up...

Music, willpower, on-line gaming and that once in a while I see good actions made by other people.

But then I read the news and (yet another) person has been killed and mutilated by some lunatic, seriously, who does that? Does he/she not have any conscious at all?

An interesting claim to make, is sanity.

I'm reminded of Saul Kripke's Philosophical Zombie concept, whereby a person could act and interact exactly like everybody else, but have no actual consciousness, simply a staggering degree of pre-determined instructions which it follows, thus giving it the illusion of free will.

I wonder, if it acts and interacts sane, is it truly said to be sane, or is the insanity simply coming out in a different, unseen way? If you couldn't tell by being around the person that they weren't sane, does it truly mean they're sane or have they just internalised their insanity?

Not sure how well that really translated, it just was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the topic.

Bacon. Bacon keeps me sane.
And pancakes.
AND TACOS.
As well as donuts.
Might as well say that a large steak is pretty good at keeping the crazies down.

So, yeah. Food keeps me sane.
Om nom nom.

Oh, and cigarettes.
I would've gone up the wall if I didn't have those.

Man, I'm so jealous of crazy people sometimes. I dunno, that ability to just let go of what really is and live off in lala land seems pretty nifty. Obviously it would cause problems and blah, blah, blah, but really the only thing keeping me sane some days is the simple fact that I don't know how to be anything else.

Writing is probably the one thing that keeps me from going insane. Driving sometimes helps when I have a lot on my mind but it really depends on what the issue is.

What keeps me sane? The realization that life is one big random and complex situation and thus everything is based on chance. Wether you achieve what you want or not is never given, so take a chance :). (I don't believe in determinism)

My girlfriend, listening to music, playing games, and that occasional fervour that will me write a song for about 10 hours at a time.
