The "rogue" archetype of assassin appeals to me. I mean, it wouldn't have much place in the modern age, what with guns and advanced security systems in important places, but the idea of using stealth and subterfuge to get the job done is what I'd like.
I'd like to be the type that sneaks into well-protected areas and takes out the target before anybody knows what's going on. Or uses poisons, throwing knives and the like for a less direct, more low-tech approach. The James Bond idea of using technology and gadgets to get things done just doesn't appeal to me.
Note I'd "like" to be that type; I'm such a clumsy bastard that even if I did live in a day and age where that kind of assassin is relevant, I wouldn't get over the walls of the damn place without alerting the guards and getting myself killed...
